v710 problem

this is the 2nd time i got the v710 because the first one the button #6 didnt' work sometimes...

what i noticed about the first one was that the some of those buttons didn't make that nice clicking sound (that i enjoy so much). some are pretty quiet and some are normal (normal being what i ahd before the v60). and also some of the buttons, as i played with it more, just didnt' feel the same as the other bottons...

also the my earpiece wasn't loud enough... (again compareing this to the v60)... so i tried that phone hack thing and it didn't seem to do any good...

now... on to the 2nd phone. the verizon rep (verizon in san dimas, ca... the girl name being tifanny) brought a phone and i asked her if she can check the call times on that...

dude chill out.this is a great phone, and you'll love it.with that being said, you need to make sure you got a goodun.the keypad is a "sheet"of numbers laid over the face of your phone,so it is all one piece.they really shouldn't move(unless it's a very slight movement)so if you have a good deal of movement, you might want to get another one before your 15 days run out.earlier some of the floor models had a zip tie securing the phones. that pushed in the keypads from the sides, this caused them to slide and malfunction.just get a goodun and you'll enjoy. 😁

a little update on how to tell if you have a older model of the v710...

i'm not sure if it's true but it might help out...

i read somewhere that when you lock up your phone you can skip that password thing during bootup by pressing the powerkey. and well mine did that (on the first phone and this 2nd one won't let me do that). so go turn on that phone lock to AUTOMATIC... shut it down.... and boot it up and keep on pressing the power botton... if it skips the part where it asks for the pin... i guess you got the older version. when doing so... note that the camera button on the keypad dont' work (it ddint' on my first one) and that you won't be getting any incoming calls lol. i was wondernig about that cuz i kept on getting voicemails ...

also to tell if you have the new one, the bumpers on the phone by the mic are larger/thicker than the first versions because there were problems with the keypad scratching the LCD.

my third phone that i got, the keypad would move too as yours did. I went to verizon and they said that all their phones do that, they even talked to one of the sales guy that uses that phone and he said that it did. I even had my previous one with me, they didn't even want to look at it to see the differences.

this is a good phone if you get a good one, im supposed to be getting another one shortly in the next couple of days because my current one is having problems with resetting while its still on.

Good luck

Won't tell you what to do but... I went through 6 of them in three months. Got out of my contract (no ETF) and went with a V3 (the best phone I have owned to date). I don't need or want transflash, so that was no loss. I kept the better display (V3 is same as V710) and I have a FULLY FUNCTIONAL Bluetooth phone! I do miss the analog capability but VZW is moving away from that anyway so it is really a moot point also. BTW... I really championed this phone pre-release and loved the phone when everything worked. Just my humble opnion but I think that the "hacks" that VZW demanded that Moto do to the phone hurt the VZW version. I have been scanning the board here and it seems that the other carriers version of the V710 is OK. Good luck.

I had the phone since September 22, 2004 and it was nothing but garbage for me. I had problems with the camera, with the keys scratching the screen, with the bluetooth, with the flashcard reading, etc.... They replaced it 6 times between then and Feb. 1.

I finally gave up on the v710 on February 1st and got the LG VX-8000. If you don't want to pay the $15.00/month for V-Cast after the 2 free months is up, then just cancel it. The phone is still great even without the V-Cast. Or you can get the VX-7000 cheaper and get most of the functions of the 8000 (Camera on 7000 isn't a megapixel camera and you lose the MP3 functions).

I would exchange the V710 for one of the 2 LG's before your 15 days is up.
