Believe it or not I'm still using a StarTac....I 've had it for 7 years and it still works great. I'm in love with the looks of the new RAZR but, Cingular service in NYC isn't great and I'd like to stay with Verizon. Does anyone have any ideas on when Verizon might get something that looks like the RAZR? Or do I just get the V710 so that I can access POP email?

I belive it!!!!!!!.... My bloved StarTac was one of the best phones I ever had!!!!! Always worked.... never crashed and battery life was awesome!!!!!!

I wish VZW offered the RAZR with full bluetooth!!!!

As for the V710. ???? It's an OK phone... but that is about it. Bluetooth headset is great but that is the only bluetooth device that works without doing the SD flash update.(You will have to do that yourself. I did it to mine and I must say it seems much better with it.)

Camera is only so..so... but so is the one on the RAZR... at least from what I've heard.

As for POP email. They took out the native email client.... so you will have to download "soda pop".... their rent as you go(monthly charge) E-mail client.

The V710 d...

Thanks for the response.....what is "soda pop" and how much will that add to my bill?
Just spoke with a friend that has had the phone since September he likes it but, he hasn't bothered to read the manual...... in spite of that he still thinks its a great phone.....
My great fear is that I'll sign a 2 year contract and next month Verizon will announce that they will be launching a phone similar to the RAZR.
I understand the CMDA and GSM networks and just like TV America chose to go a different system then the reat of the world???
Re bluetooth: CA files a class action suit against Verizon and yesterday I think a law firm in NYC did the same.
Believe it or not everyone I know is on Verizon and that gives me a lot of free calling...

soda pop is a pop email client, it costs $2.49 a month. the next great moto phone on VZW will probably be the E815 (V710 upgrade) but that may be pushed back 6 months or more for VZW testing.

The E815 is slightly heavier then the V710 and it doesn't have analog although... I don't know how important analog is anymore. The E815 also doesn't have the E mail Client think what you said is that VZW has disabled the Email Client on the V710 so it doesn't matter that its listed as a feature on the spec sheet???
A salesperson in my local VZW store sold me a phone this past July under the pretense that I would be able to get POP email. I had the phone 18 hours and returned it. The sales person then canceled my service completely.....ever since July my bills have been a mess.....every month I have to call to get it straighten out....as a result of the continued problem the manager said he would give me a free V710 if I sign a 2 year c...

Free V710 😳 go for it 🙂 even if a new phone comes out in a few months buy it full price and sell the 710 on E-bay they are going for about $200.00 - $300.00 now, that will pay for the amount you pay more for the new phone 😎 unless the price takes a nose dive.

Thanks again....I guess I've had my StarTac so long I feel as though I'm abandoning an old friend.....
My question....what's with the Email Client that's on the V710 spec sheet is it there or not? Does that mean with Soda Pop software all the new phones would get POP email not just the V710???

You convinced me!!! I'm going to go over and pick the phone up today. I know that its probably cheaper to buy the extended battery, desk charger, and bluetooth headset from someone other then VZW....any suggestions?

Thanks for your support....I finally did get the V710 and I have everything working including my POP email.
The phone is basically great my major complaint is that the keys really stink....their placement and the size of the alphabet are down right terrible....is it bad enough for me to return it??? I'm going to try it out for the trial period and see if I can get use to it. Also I can't believe that Moto hasn't made a charger that stops charging when the battery is charged. What headset do you recommend??

Does the charger kill the battery if you leave it on too long?

Also i recommend the HS810 with the flipout piece if you have the extra money, just feels better in your ear and more helpful when your answering calls

I was told that the battery keeps charging which causes it to burn out....that's why I'm looking for the type of desk charger I had with my StarTac...

I did some research and from the HS850....the newest head set for $97.95
