OK this is the 4th V710 that i have had from verizon i purchased the phone the day it came out, it had 3 major problems with it the screen was getting scratched from the keypad the bluetooth would not function at all and the phone would drop calls say no service and then come immediately back into the service area with all my bars (it always happened no matter what the coverage was like but being verizon i also am in a full bar coverage area) so i took the phone back to verizon store and they gave me another one, that phone had the same problems, so i called customer service and that same day the phone just happened to have gone on recall for the camera problem, so verizon agreed to send me an LG-VX6000 to use in the mean time until the V710...

The blue tooth issues are well known with the V710.... seems to only work well with the HS810 and SP800 and despite your post I haven't seen anything that says Verizon has fixed or is planning to fix the bluetooth functions on the V710. In fact, everyone I've seen post saying they good a new phone with new software has been wrong. The original software verison is 8700_01_30.8F and everyone seem to have that... other than one person that claims to be testing a new verion.. seems they actually made things worse...not better.
I personally have not had the reception problems you refer to with the V710... in fact I have had the best reception I have ever had from a cell phone.... it seems ever better than my Star Tac and it was awesome.
If you...

I would just switch if I were you. I have been having so many problems with Verizon regarding the V710...it's so crazy. My phone stopped charging 3 weeks ago so I have been without a phone for a while and everytime they would tell me to stop in to get a replacement at the store they would always tell me that they ran out of phones. I am supposed to get a new one via mail tomorrow but who knows with this company. Just switch. I'm actually going to cingular and a nokia. They have way better bluetooth stuff.

I live in Colorado and Yes i have been frustrated with verizon on a few issues with the secondary stuff on this phone and the t720 before it but here is the short of it -- i could drop verizon and go to say cingular and get abadass razor phone with full bluetooth functionallity. but the real deal is (here at least) i would rather have a great phone slightly limited then a cool phone un restricted with crap service. even one dropped call is too many and the work phone my boss supplies me (att now cingular) not only drops every other call it won't even work 1/3 of the time and i have to use my personal phone to call. so it is a matter of priority here to me -- do you want a great working phone with some side problems or do you want a cool came...

Yea, but how about having the best both worlds. Can't they manufacture/adapt those cool phones to work on CDMA as well as GSM? Why isn't there a RAZR for VZW? I understand your message and mostly agree with it, however, my former TMO Nokia 3650 was a very cool phone.

Two reasons:
1) There's *no* common ground between GSM and CDMA. You have to redesign huge chunks of the phone to make it work on the CDMA network. There's hope, because this sort of thing will be easier when it's UMTS vs. CDMA because they have the same underlying algorythms. CDMA also requires more processor power, which is balanced enough by the reduced transmission power requirements to be a net gain... but still makes i...

What were you using before v710? Do you have an older verizon handset?

If I were you I'd go back to that until BT gets resolved... and do it within your 15 day period. Tell Verizon you want to remain on your old plan and will give them a chance to get BT working. Tell them that if they don't get it fixed your changing service providers... and you don't want an obligation during that period.

I think if you hold v710 you are going to be screwed like the rest of us ... and without leverage or the ability to walk (at least on the cheap).

Network coverage at the other carriers is bad... but their bluetooth does work. It depends on where you live and where you travel. If you stick around home and know that Cingular coverage in your a...

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but at some RadioShack stores, we sell a bluetooth adaptor which can be attached to the bottom of just about any Motorola phone. This should allow you to use the handsfree feature of your BMW with a different Motorola phone. In your situation, I would try a Motorola V265 or V260 since they both have the nice voice command feature that the V710 has. They are also a fraction of the cost together with the adaptor,

Here's the catalog number of the bluetooth adaptor and you can check it out for yourself. 17-982.
