OK..help me out here. Is the V710 really that bad of a phone if I'm not planning to use BT? I'm up for the NE2 PLUS my company will reimburse part of the price of the phone. I'm really used to Moto's menus & such.

Need:
Big, clear display
Good speaker phone for occaissional use
Multiple numbers per contact (not the way the T730 does it)
Good voice recognition
Good handset volume for use in busy airports (I hate looking like I just walked off the space shuttle with an ear piece)
Obviously, good reception

If you guys steer me clear of the 710, I'm considering going LG 6100 since I don't care for the 7000.

Your expert guidance is appreciated. I don't want to be stuck for the next 2 years with a crappy phone again.

Big, clear display - Over 2" and 260,000 colors. Very good...
Good speaker phone for occaissional use - I really like the speakerphone
Multiple numbers per contact (not the way the T730 does it) - You can set the phone book up to show all the seperate numbers in the list or just show the default. I don't know how the T730 is setup so I can't comment. For instance, you can set it up so every number for bill is showing in the list (i.e. fax, mobile, business), or you can set it up so just the mobile number is showing (then you have to view the contact to retrieve the rest). You can store work, mobile, main, fax, and e-mail for persons. No address....
Good voice recognition - This uses Voice Signal voice recognition. This is by far the...

I would stay away from the V710...especially if you are NOT going to use bluetooth. In my opinion (I'm sure some will disagree), most LG phones and Samsung phones are superior to any Motorola product and especially the V710.

PS
I own both a Samsung SCH-I600 and Motorola V710.

If I weren't waiting/hoping that Verizon would get it's act together and put BT obex features back in I would not keep the 710. As much as that pains me to say as an x-Motorolan. If I don't see movement on BT in the next few months... I'm going back to Sprint (despite their coverage holes in some areas where I'd like coverage).

The camera and video is weak... and pricing is a premium. It is worth the premium if you value BT (and I do). Battery life on v710 in sub-par (even with BT off).

I reccomended an LG 4500 to a client ... she loves it. They seem to be putting out a good product. I'm not familiar with the LG6100 so I can't comment on that particular model.

Great volume, speakerphone, LCD, voice recognition.

I personally like the 710, and am holding onto it for the bluetooth. The phone scratches VERY easily, and the camera SUCKS!! The speaker phone is really good, and compared to other VZW phones, the battery is OK. I find that verizon batteries don't last as long as GSM, not sure if that is a technology thing.

I do like the menu system, and i think you can buy replacement covers if it gets scratched up pretty bad. If you don't care about bluetooth, I would go with a different phone, maybe something a little smaller.
