you know I find it funny that every time ANYONE calls customer service to complain about something/anything on this phone - they always say that this is the first time they have heard of such a problem. When if you read this forum (or any other V710 forum) there are several people who have called Verizon CS to complain about one thing or another. They all say that there have been NO NEGATIVE complaints about the V710. This alone should tell you that they are all full of $hit, and that they hide the problems from the customers to make you think you are the only one with issues.
OK DAMN... please do a search. It is not a recall. This has been talked about for the last 3 pages.

Then I called back and talked to another guy and he basically said to bring the phone to any store that has a service center and they would replace it if the camera is indeed misaligned.. too abd there's no stores in NJ that have the phone with a straight camera. heh.
On a side note... I love how verizon claims that once we complain about a problem it becomes there problem. Worry Free Guarantee my a**. Just admit there's a problem and address it without giving me the run around.

Any idea when the phone will be re-released in stores? I don't want to waste going there only to pick up another sh**ty phone.

29th.. do a search, damn.. there are 4 pages of the exact same crap on here....

is it possible that the new york stores will get the phone on the 29th and if they do will these just be refurbished phones or completely new ones. Is MOTO fixing the old phones or I they shipping newly manufactured phones. I was also curious if I would be able to switch models instead of taking a new phone.
In the northeast area, they are suppose to receive the new phones on the 29th. They will have a blue dot on the box indicating it is fixed phone.
They have not said if they are truly fru phones or new ones.
Unless its before your 15 day trial period (wfg), you can only swap it out for the same make and model.
Now, this is something most might not know. If you have swapped ou...

Motorola V710 Camera Issue
posted: 10/20/2004 12:40:44 PM (ET)
An issue has been identified with the Motorola V710 that may affect some of your agents' on-hand inventory. Indirect Agents are to screen V710 New and FRU inventory prior to sale/use. Should a handset be identified as defective, Indirect Agents will follow directions as detailed in the attached M&P to return ONLY NEW Motorola V710 handsets with the Camera issue.
and if you guys what there is a long version with instructions on how to check inventory, i'll post that too if you want
Date October 20, 2004
Effective Date
October 20, 2004
Affected Area

Affected Channel
VZW Indirect Agents
Overview
Verizon Wireless has identified an issue with a limited number of Motorola V710 cameras that are not mounted to specifications. This can result in a photo where the object appears noticeably crooked or tilted.
A resolution is underdevelopment and additional inventory should be available shortly. Until then, Indirect Agents are to screen V710 inventory prior to sale.

but as for when they will have new phones i think its the same for everyone
"Inventory
All current DC inventory is on hold and will be sent to Motorola for inspection. We do not have an ETA on the availability of New handsets with good cameras in the Distribution Centers"
Inspection is not something verizon nor motorola is fast at
The only thing new to me is since you actually sell them, the actual return is new to me.. kinda cool to find out how ya'll deal with equip.
I'm not sure I understand what is going on. Are consumers returning phones to you specifically complaining about camera tilt? I always thought a user would focus on the target and snap a pic and not focus the orientation of their hand. If no returns, why would you return your inventory? Do you think if you applied that screen to any camera phone, would you get a 100% pass rate? I'm confused.

I talked to a CS rep last night and I asked him about the recall, he said there is no such thing.
Yesterday, I went into a VZW store in Manhattan on the Upper East Side and they did not have the V710 on display. I then went to the Tech Support counter and was told it is "quarantined", as the tech phrased it. He said that th camera tilt issue is why they no longer have the phone out. He then went on to say that VZW will be sending letters to all customers. The letter will have instructions of how to go about swapping out the phone for a non-tilted one.
Just to be on the safe side, I went into another VZW store in midtown today and although they did have it on display and for sale, the Tech Suppor

I'm at least happy to hear that VZW techs around my area are aware of the problem and relaying the info to customers. Hopefully I'll get my letter soon. Thanks for the help Shurick!!
Good Luck all V710 users!!
