V710 Software Update

Any news on a Software Update for the V710...
Just got off the phone with VZW and was informed that there WILL NOT be any kind of software update... There will be no Bluetooth PC Support and VZW has not advertised this as a bluetooth phone... They suggested I contact Motorola on any and all issues and appologized for Motorola's false advertising...I was told that due to security issues that file transfers would not be aloud except thru get-it-now... I was also informed by the dumb ass that future phones with trans flash cards will have any kind of file transfer disabled.. That I could only transfer pics and video thru get it now applications or vzpixs... I was told that I was one of the lucky few that can tranfer files thru the trans...

at least audiovox makes desktop chargers and will always have a software update to fix any problems that might occur and not use a customers safety as an excuse for not supporting a brand new $249 phone LMAO~

That's funny... I use a Motorola desk top charger with my V710. In fact it is the same one that I used with my V60, T720, T730 and guess what I have Bluetooth and you don't! 😛

I'm glad you like your phone.
I actually think that most of the people that complain on here are morons. I knew what I was buying when I got it because I did my homework. Even so, I chose this phone and am very happy with my purchase. The bluetooth is certainly not "useless" as you stated. I use it for both laptop and my pda on a regular basis and it works great. I don't care about transferring contacts and files, I use it to connect to the internet. The problem really is not the phone, but all of the people that bought it without finding out what it was capable of. Verizon never stated that you could do any more than this with the v710.

I stopped by a Verizon store this morning to compalin about the camera and the technician told me they are aware of the probelem, that it is a software issue, that all of the phones have the problem, and that a software upgrade is being worked on to solve the problem. There seem to be two different stories here.

There are certainly multiple stories - if youo go to the link I am pasting below, VZW is indeed advertising that this phone is PC Bluetooth capable - the fact that it is currently not enabled is erroneous and must be corrected. The link (hopefully):

I've been over this a couple of times before, but somehow nobody seems to get it:

Notice that it DOES NOT state that you can transfer files or contacts. I "connect" mine with my laptop and PDA on a regular basis. This feature actually works as stated, people just need to read more carefully and ask the right questions before spending so much money on this kink of stuff.

How are they going to disable file sharing via Transflash short of soddering a top on the expansion slot. They can't stop a person for using a SD reader/writer from writing to a Transflash card and disabling file types .mid and .jpg would all but make Get It Now useless I would think.

I admit it's a nice phone, but I still like the reception on the 710 and the ability that the TF card endows upon it...
