D415 Download Video to Computer...

by TheRealMatt    Oct 22, 2005, 1:14 AM

To preface this post, I would like to say that I have spent about 5 hours looking for a solution to no avail, and I am now shamelessly desperate.

My problem is this - I simply cannot manage to transfer ANY of the videos I have taken with this phone to a PC. I have purchased the data cable and have been happily transferring my pictures, phonebook and text messages to my computer... but the videos will not cooperate. The folder where they should be (in EasyGPRS, for example) is just blank. The picture folder right above it shows all my pictures, but the video folder is empty, despite the 20+ videos on my phone. I have tried so many things, including multiple versions of EasyGPRS and Samsung PC Studio II w/ PIMS & File Manager. I have even tried flashing the firmware to two different versions of the D410 firmware, as I hear transferring videos is possible with the D410. Unfortunately, after flashing, my phone wouldn't even boot, forcing me to restore the original firmware that I thankfully backed up.

To make matters worse, yesterday my D415 all of the sudden started displaying nothing but a white screen. I can still make and receive calls, but I can't see anything. Upon researching this, I have found that other people who own this phone experience the same problem.

To be honest, I can really get passed that. I have a month left on my T-Mobile contract and will be purchasing a new phone and signing with a new service provider.

Silly as it may sound, some of these videos mean a lot to me and I feel I speak for my own and the frustrations of thousands when I say that it is ridiculous to have left this feature out of this phone. However, I refuse to believe that this was Samsung's intention - especially considering the success stories I’ve heard of with the D410.

My guess is that whoever altered the firmware to enslave this phone model to T-Mobile managed to complicate this video-phone's greatest ability.

Please, please help. This is for me and everyone else who has faced this ridiculous limitation. I know at least one of you out there has to have a solution.
