Managing Contacts with PC?

I thought that it would be possible to set up my contact list on my computer and send it to the phone somehow. The Verizon salesperson said that I could do that if I had webmail, for which I signed up when upgrading to the 670.

I can't find anything in the manual or the quick reference booklet about how to do it, nor is there any mention of this capability on the CD-ROM.

Help!?!?!

Don't worry, I talk to myself all the time. 😉

After contacting Verizon customer service, I found out that I would have to buy a Mobile Office Kit. So, I did that.

(This always happens when I upgrade my technology. A salesperson assures me that I have everything I need to do what I want. Then I discover that I have to buy just one or two more things to REALLY have what I need.)

I just finished installing Verizon Mobile Office on my home PC. No probs with USB drivers or anything. Unfortunately for me, the software is only a means to connect the phone to the computer. It has NOTHING to do with maintaining, storing, or accessing a contact list.

So, what next?

The Mobile Office Kit I bought from Verizon for $39 came with a cable and two CD discs.

It included a Mobile Phonebook Manager (I think that's the name) on the Driver disc.

I did not have to use the second disc (which I think is for the modem functionality, which I don't use).

I loaded the USB drivers
Installed the Phonebook Manager
Told it to look for the phone
and everything was good
You can read everything off the phone into the Manager, or write your file off to the phone.

The app basically manages a 500 entry Contact list that gets stored as an Excel .csv file. It works great.

You can enter all paramters of the Contact list (ringtype, picture ID, group name, alias, etc)
