Dont get the Optimus V.. get the Optimus S on sprint.. you can utilize more functions on a contract phone rather than pre-paid.
As far as the keyboard goes it is easy to text with.. I am a texter too and the keyboard will turn with the phone for a bigger keyboard.. There is also swype for this phone but I dont know if that is an option on the pre-paid version.. so get the sprint version
