Disappearing Texts

Heymjo

Feb 20, 2010, 3:33 PM
The other day, all my texts suddenly disappeared from my phone. I had not reached anywhere near the limit of texts. I use Handcent, by the way. Has anyone else had this problem? Are they still somewhere on my phone or are they lost forever?

Never had them all disappear. Go into settings (in handcent) go to retrieve message setting and make sure "Self-Check" is enabled.

To look for old messages, go under your messaging app and see whats there

i have had mine mid-sentence just stop typing on the screen but when i backed out the whole text was still there, i have to reboot the phone to get it to work right again.... something with handcent program. then again it is in beta so issues are expected.

Self check was enabled and I went to the app and there is still nothing there. Thanks for the help, though.

this just happened to me today (for the first time)...how utterly frustrating. Evidently, this is a known bug (review the various forums out there), only acknowledged by us, consumers. Verizon claims they have not heard of this problem, and Google has been unresponsive. This is completely unacceptable, and ?fraudulent as we pay for SMS/MMS. No known fix and this time...and apparently no way to retrieve once lost. Ridiculously, there is no way to detect when the bug will occur and no way to prevent. DROID users need to raise their voices on this issue.

dude, really?

its not that big of a problem. I've had my Droid since launch and it's happened once. There no way to even know if some 3rd party app caused it or not. Now hurry off and have your little rebellion... see where it gets you

This site avails itself to allow members the chance to elaborate on experiences and to troubleshoot problems. Certainly, spontaneous loss of text messages warrants discussion. Your comments are worthless and your arrogance is not appreciated.

adjective such as "ridiculous" and "unacceptable" in regards to losing a few text messages are "worthless"...

You say its a "known issue" yet you come to these forums to see if anyone has expierenced it as a form of validation

"fraudelent" that you text messages get deleted? Ever thought Google won't address the issue because it's not their issue but rather the use of 3rd party apps that cause it?

Call to "raise voices?"... over text messages? get a life

Yes the site provides an outlet... but that freedom is also there for users to think you're being a bit off your rocker... there's two sides to every sword buddy, just cuz someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean their opinion of your ideas isn't valid

Again, time for yo...

such anger,

yes, once doesn't constitute a lynching of a company, but several times and being a known issue that is from the phone not a 3rd party program, then we might have a problem. the only time i have had an issue with missing text when i use my handcent program but then again it has only happened once.
