Trouble with Texting

Is any other droid user having trouble with the txt messaging. There are times that the words that I am txting are not showing up in landscape mode. I do have the NumberPad Keyboard app installed but that shouldn't cause that. Should it?!?

I have to turn my phone off and back on and then it starts working normally again.

Any feedback would be great.

Still love the Droid

It's a SmS/MMs replacement. basically will let you customize how everything looks, as well as some handy features:
-Much easier to attach an image
-Will continue letting you write after you reach 160 char limit, and then will split up/combine it when it sends.
-Will automatically convert text message into MMS if you write more than three SMS worth of text (160 Char each)
-Skin-able
-Over a dozen custom fonts available
-easy way to track texting usage.

It's certainly possible that a keyboard app could cause this. Should it? No, but if there is a bug in the keyboard app, it is possible. Try removing the keyboard app, and if the problem goes away, it was the keyboard app. If the problem stays, it's something else. If the problem DOES go away, you can decide the features of the app outweigh to inconvenience, and reinstall it, or they don't, and you stop using it.

Since I don't have this problem, and apparently others don't as well, it would appear that it is something in one of your apps. I had a problem with an app one time, the speak volume suddenly just died. Even on full volume you could barely hear a ringtone. Turned out to be a flashlight app. In other words, it isn't always ...

the problem with the keypad is when your doing multiple tasks at once, which motorola says the phone can do of course, the phone gets confused, hopefully they'll fix this problem along with the lenghty list of other problems this collossal failure has with the release of the droid 2.

Does the droid keep your convo with people in chat like boxes?
Or does it store your inbox all individually?
For example the iphone and the palm centro/treo all keep it in chatlike boxes?
Just wondering because i love the way my centro does it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "chatlike boxes", but the standard messaging client is threaded, and keeps each recipient together, which I think is what you are after.

When you first open the messaging client, you see a list of threads/conversations, with any that have new messages at the top. This is basically the way my treo650 did it, and is(IMO) far superior to a single "inbox" with all your messages that you then have to sort through to try to follow a conversation.

You can also get third-party programs, such as HandCent SMS, which is supposed to be great, though I have never seen a need for anything beyond the standard messaging client.

I just installed Hancut SMS and Font pack 1 and did a few test messages after reading the above. I agree that it is significantly better and easier to use then the Droid basic messaging application.

Hey Hockeydog,

I have started to have the same problem, although I have not installed any Keyboard apps. I do have Handcent SMS loaded, but I do not see how that could be causing my problem. I can type out fine when the phone is in the upright position, but in landscape, it's not showing the letters as they're typed. I know that words are being inputed because when I send the text, everything shows in the text window (Strange!). The crazy part is that I just tried using it again and now it's working (Even Stranger!!). We'll see how long that lasts.
Well, other than that the Droid has been working perfectly for me.
