Syncing with computer

☹️ The one main thing that Motorola missed with this phone and is not mentioned in any reviews is that the phone does not sync with Outlook or Mac computers.
All syncing is done only with a g mail account. So in essence, the phone does not sync your addresses or calendars.

How could Motorola be so blind sided. This phone will not replace the blackberry as most all blackberry users
sync with their computer.

This is a deal breaker.

What you can do is make sure that you set up your Gmail calender. Once that is done you can export your calendar from outlook or Mac to your Gmail account and you will have the information.

Just setup a gmail account (you don't have to use their email) and iCal and Mac Address book can both be setup to sync automatically with gmail over the air. Then setup the account in droid (again you don't have to use the email) and your contacts and calendar will always stay in sync with your Mac. If you use outlook, I don't know how to handle the contacts but you can download google sync for the calendar which will sync at pre-determined intervals.

Remember google is your friend. It gives you all the functionality of exchange without the expense.

Thanks for the advise, however I was only able to get the address book to sync with g mail. I still have not been able to sync the calendar. I have tried for over 1 hour and followed the instructions to a T and it still doesn't sync the calendar.

I guess I wonder why they made this so different from the Blackberry.

The Droid allows you to Sync Wirelessly, so motorola didn't miss the boat there. yes, there is no desktop sync, but there are a ton of free ones out there and more being created as the year goes on.

Looking around Google I found this. Works for me. You should see an icon near you clock in the task bar that opens the syn program.

Not a problem for me. I use Google Sync on my BB now. I don't use Outlook. This phone is looking better and better for me!
