I had both and would definatley use the VX6000. First, the screen is far superior (especially if you're a JAMDAT Bowling enthusiast, such as myself -- the motion's refresh rate on the a530 was horrible).
In terms of functionality, I noticed better voice quality on my end with the LG. Never, while using the LG did anyone on the other end complain about not hearing me, but as soon as I used the a530, many people asked me to repeat entire sentences and said I was breaking up.
Lastly, the a530 is just an awkward interface. The get it now button in the middle of the keypad always leads me to believe thats the "Select" button, but it usually is the right softkey. Additionally, adding phonebook entries takes forever, with that damned confirmation box telling me the memory status after each addition. Aaah!
The only thing to the benefit of samsung is a few unique features, such as whisper mode, where you whisper in your end and it comes out normal the other end. In terms of a second LCD display - dont let that be a factor at all - its marginally cool (at best) and isn't that useful.
I bought the a530 on ebay, used it for 3 days, and re-sold it and switched back to my LG :-)
