Good move on their part. No network provider screwing up their ROM and putting a bunch of bloatware on it.
At $550 its priced fair for a quality device that you could see three years of service out of if you wanted to.
Plus since its unlocked if you decide to upgrade in a year you can put it on Ebay or sell it to a friend. It will hold its value because its a quality device that anyone can use on any GSM network.

Nope, AT&T is planning on carrying the device as a replacement to the Treo 750.

So far no one in the US has signed up for this device, could this change, sure, could something have come out in the past week or two that I didn't hear about, sure. It would be a good pickup on AT&T's part if they do.

No one has announced they will carry the device. That doesn't mean they won't carry it.

It could be 6 months if they do carry it, look how long it took them to get the Centro.
I think the phone will sell itself, Palm is not worried if At&t doesn't pick it up.

How many other carriers run UMTS on 850/1900MHz ? Outside of Rogers in Canada, I don't know of any. T-Mobile is 1700/2100MHz (different than the '2100MHz' global base.

This is true, because of AT&T and Rogers 850/1900 is the North American 3G standard.
This is what most phone manufacturers will spec to because of that market potential.
T-Mobile decided to build out their 3G network on 1700MHz which means if you are a T-Mobile customer you will have to buy a phone from them if 3G service is a must for you. You wouldn't have as wide of choice but still, they should be able to get some top name handsets made for them.
If 3G is not a issue for you or if you live in a non-3G area than any quad GSM phone will work for you.
The Palm Treo Pro will run at 3G in North America on 850/1900 and in Asia and much of Europe at 2100. And if 3G service is not available then it still has EDGE network for data worldwide....

No this is a GSM phone, it cannot work on A CDMA network like Sprint or VZW.

The closest thing Sprint has to this phone is the fairly new 800W.
