Ringtones????

mcdeno

I have been reading how people are sending ringtones from email and text. How are you getting them to use as ringtones? The only option I have is to save as sound. I have the v9m and I also refuse to pay for Verizons Get It Now. More like Give (us your money) Now.
I know it has only been out for a few days. I have had the same ringtone now for about 4 years. It has followed me thur 4 phones. I even got the data cable in hopes I could find a hack somewhere. Can anyone help?

To use as a ringtone, you have to rename (file extension) as a .qcp instead of mp3 or mid. Hope this helps.

It is a qcp file. I didn't have to rename it.

I honestly can't remember if the ones I emailed worked or not. I know the .mid did not. I did get a BT adapter and just slid my ringtones (after renaming .qcp) into the 'My Ringtones' folder on my phone. It worked VERY well. I also did pics. Now my caller ID is the same as on my last 2 phones and I'm a happy camper and not confused about who is calling me. 🤣

so by "renaming" the mp3 files... all you are doing is changing

filename.mp3 to filename.qcp ? or are you converting them?

Nope, I simply renamed the .mid (which I had converted from .mp3) tones and it worked....just a right click, rename, and VOILA...they worked.

My .mp3 ringtones were much bigger than the .mid ringtones so I'm guessing that just renaming won't work with .mp3 but it did with .mid Hope that makes sense! I didn't try the .mp3 tones because of their size.

I have a BT adapter for two computers and I either get com failure and can't connect or it can not open my phone files. Am I missing something?

Try emailing a sound MP3 and QCP to nynumber@vzwpix.com and one of them should save to your ringer list.

This may be a regional problem. You can always use MPT or OBEX if that doesn't work.

I use this website and email myself ringtones and wallpaper.

The service is free, and you just use your text allowance. I haven't gotten any text spam, so I think it's ok to use.

The quality of the files vary, since they are uploaded by members, so you should preview them before sending them to yourself. They come through as pix message, you select options and go to "save sound", and "set as", and select either ringtone or ringer id, depending on what you want. I haven't had a problem yet. You need to go that extra step after "save sound" and you will see the "set as" menu. Maybe that is where you stopped, so you didn't know you could save it as a ringtone.

I'm sure you could also email y...
