The phone itself is great, It's just the annoying hassle of trying to obtain ringtones that's a bitch. Takes decent enough pictures that I enjoy it. I haven't had a problem with my slider and it's running smoothly.

slider part is garbage and it really feels cheaply made, so i traded mine off for a different phone!! the 8500 is more solid!!!

I have had this phone for a week. After playing with it, I am very happy.
The only things that I don't like is that playlists can only be created via the phone, and Battery life could be better. The call clearlity is great, and phone has great signal strength. I bought the 4G Music kit with it, and couldn't be happier. Phone wise the Env is better, but I like the size of the VX 8550.

So far so good, great fun to use. Functions much better than the krzr1m that I just returned. Calls are great, camera is fine and the music part is great. IF you are a big text person you might consider the EnV with full keyboard, but seems to be bigger. The 8550 fits nicely in your pocket. Not sure of the durability factor, I have not dropped it.

The phone feels good, not sure why some folks are saying the old 8500 was more solid. I feel the exact opposite and consider the new one solid while the old one felt like a toy phone a child might play with. To those doubters go the verizon store and feel for yourself.
