Using mp3's as ringtones

I've had the Q9 for just over a day now and after having used the Blackjack, it seems to be all plusses. The speaker on the phone is just crazy loud. However,...

I haven't been able to figure out how to assign an mp3 from my SD card as my ringtone on my phone. I have copied a file to my ringtones folder in My Documents and everything. I'm getting nowhere. Has anyone else tried to do this with any luck? Or is the function blocked due to provider request (which I would think is the likely scenario).

I had the same problem.... My issue was the rington was over 300K. You need to use a program like Wavepad to edit the ringtone. (Like about 15 seconds or so)

Put it in the My Docs folder.... if you put it in any other folder like My Ringtones you can't use that sound for anything like alerts, etc.

I found the registry key to edit the file size limit for ringtones. I was looking for this, as I have ringtones that are over the default size

Key:---\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds

Value Name--FileSizeLimit

Value data---307200
--------------------------------------------- --

I changed my limit to 900000.

The registry editor I used can be found at:
