In fact you can access through the Safari web browser (along with any other web site and mail service as long as it does not use Flashplayer), but it is also one of the featured mail apps for the iPhone. Which will allow you to sync as many accounts as you have with Yahoo, G-mail, .Mac, Aol (and possibly more but I can't confirm which ones).
