1) Why do I have to use the crappy iPhone stock ear buds? My bose QC2 and In Ear, as well as some radioshack nonsense headphones will not fit. Only the ear buds do. I doubt it..but anyway around this travesty?

2) how long should it take to connect to a pop server on edge? sometimes it takes 2-3 minutes. blackberry owns in this department.

3) any freeware apps that are worth looking at?

4) any word on an update to increase ear piece volume ( i can live with a low ringer, even a low speaker, but the earpiece is way too low)? i know people have addressed this...but still no clear answer, eh?

5) to avoid horrible overages overseas...all i have to do is not use safari and turn all my email accounts off? should that do shut off my phon...

That's what you get for going to Cingular. Verizon and Sprint have actual high-speed internet on the phone. It is about 5x the speed of Cingular. The only downside is they can't carry the phone for about 4 yrs 9 months.

Apple did a receded headphone jack to force the market to make head buds that will have a microphone attached. (I know. Annoying.) All you have to do, simply, is shave some plastic away from your favourite headphones, and they will fit. (Not the best of solutions, but the only solution for now.)

I bought a $10 adapter from the Apple store from Belkin. Problem is its like 3 -4 inches long and an ugly grey color. But I use it in my car as I have one of those mp3 input jacks so its not really a big deal. I tolerate the iPhone earbuds because you can double click the speaker to fast forward the song instead of pulling the whole thing out of my pocket. [Personal pref.]

I can connect on Edge to a pop server in about 2 -3 min as well. kinda annoying...

dont know about the other 2...

There has already been a few suggestions posted on this. There has also been a slew of 3rd party headphones that have come out for the iPhone that will also include a mic. Take a look at V-Moda's solution.

I can't speak to POP3, I normally use IMAP and it's taking about 15-30 seconds on EDGE. Remember that POP3 will try ...
