iPhone Urban Legends
Does anyone know why all of a sudden I am getting calls from customers saying the if you use an iPhone could cause you to get struck by lighting? Or why a customer wanted to return the phone because someone told them that if you touch the screen while drinking water you can shock yourself? I don't know if I should cry or laugh at the IQ of the general public.

There was a piece on CNN not long ago with a slightly alarmist tone. A fellow was wearing his iPod in a thunderstorm and got struck. Apparently having an electronic device in such close proximity to his body made the hit worse.
In practice, it's not an iPod thing. It's an astoundingly bad idea to wear an MP3 player in a thunderstorm, period, and not just because if you get hit the charge will dissipate through the device into your ears. For most people it ought to be self-evident that electronics + moisture is a bad idea in general.
That the poor fellow in the news story got injured so badly by the strike is part bad luck, part Darwinian forces at work.

It was because he was talking on his iPhone while playing his Zune. Microsoft has anti-Apple features in all of its devices. Don't you know Bill Gates can control the weather? Why do you think it rains all the time in Seattle?

Now, now. Rain isn't evil. Rain makes things grow. If Bill Gates controlled the weather, it would be bright and shiny and happy until everything died of sunburn and dehydration.
And then the planet would crash.

...and then Gates would be the hero, coming to save us with the latest "patch", $129.99 retail and NO chance of pirating!
