There is a hell of a lot new. Stop the BS about the LG Prada. It's in Europe - not here. Besides, every friggin' LG phone lately is a piece of crap with problems, from the 6000-on-up. Maybe if VZW kept their damn hands off the software you might be right.

I'm so sorry you feel like there are too many "restrictions" on your VZW phones. But there are reasons for everything, my friend. Here's the deal. They CARE about the network first. The designs and features of the phones are important for competitive reasons, but is ultimately secondary to what is important. Yeah, so you can't transfer files via bluetooth or use recordings as ringtones. Who cares? The service is..,, better than most…. They restrict some of those nifty features to avoid bogging down the network - then we'd really have an issue to discuss. It seems people focus more on having the newest phone ... IPHONE... and not taking the time to research and make smart consumer decisions… but, to each its own.

If they care about the network, why not correct the 'bugs' first, then release the phone. Why release a product with 'known' problems. You can't tell me VZW doesn't know about them. Perfect example: I have an LG 8700. You cannot voice dial with flip closed, call volume & speaker so low you can never hear it, complaints of choppy reception (mine is fine). What about the 8100? Volume problems, camera & bluetooth problems, half of which were never fixed. Sammy & Moto, the same. You can't constantly put a product on the market, with problems (most which never get fixed) and expect the public not to be pissed off. The only thing VZW cares about is themselves. Restrictions: to make sure the consumer NEVER gets anything for free.

using bluetooth to send files is what it was meant to do. and sharing files between bluetooth phones does not clog up the network cuz it has nothing to do with the network. its a p2p action. sending a picture over bluetooth doesnt involve the network. so just stop. your mad cuz verizon wont let u.

I switched from Verizon Worthles to Cingular (now AT&T) two years ago and all I've wondered is what took me so long. I'll never go back. Everything from coverage, call quality and customer service at AT&T is superior to VW. Not to mention the phones are much, much better. They're thinner, better designed and have way greater battery life. Verizon butchers their phones with their crappy custom user interface that keeps you from syncing with your computer, except for contacts. They want to force you to buy games, ringtones and music from their crappy store. Until you've tried something better, you'll never know the difference. I have two Verizon phones and two ATT phones in my house. I can honestly say that Verizon is better in their billing, network, ability to buy insurance and customer support. Try to walk into an ATT store a year after you buy a phone if it breaks and walk out with a new one 20 minutes later.
That said, their phones are a little too vanilla for me which is why I have two ATT phones too. When I absolutely need to make a call, however, I wouldn't think to use anything but one of my Verizon phones.

One of my best friends is a Verizon Wireless employee and not just a working hack but up he chain. He told me that Verizon was offered the IPHONE first, but Verizon wanted so much control over the phone the Apple freaked out over their demands and hence dropped their offer.
Verizon wanted to control so much of what the IPHONE could do that the phone would not have been what it is now. You already know what control freaks Verizon is over blue tooth and what Verizon will let their customers do with i and not do with it, although lately some of their restrictions has been relaxed.
I think Apple going with AT&T was a good idea, will have an impact on Verizon and their relentless control over their phones.. Maybe they will carry the IPH...

A reply to my reply. I did it, I went and bought the damn phone and returned it basically forty eight hours later. All I can say to be nice is, VZW knew what they were doing. The Iphone as a phone is absolutely terrible. As an Ipod it's fantastic. Was it the Holy Grail of Cell Phones, no where near it. Basically it is a Ipod with a telephone built in that doesn't work that well and has many, many functions that most cell phones have missing. My advice, spend the $600 on something else, like a vacation, a good stereo, new tires on your car. Anything but this fancy new Ipod.

GOOD! They deserve to get their butts kicked. They're always messing with the software to control the phone. That is why there are always problems. I heard the iPhone is all Apple - no ATT software, except for activation. VZW is greedy, selfish & doesn't give a damn about their customers. I'm sure the ATT phones have some problems, but nothing like VZW.

as for you're mention of the prada, it was "not even close" when compared to the iphone - courtesy of Gizmodo. The Prada is a touchscreen bolted onto Windows Mobile.. the UI still sucks, and to top it off you get the instability and general kludginess of the whole platform.. not to mention, it's sales are not quite blowing anyone out of the water.. the N95 was easily beating it with around 50K units a month after release.. 50K in a month.. The iPhone has sold between 5-14...

They wanted verizon to stop pushing the other SmartPhones. And wanted verizon to pass on the Prada....which will be EVDO. The Iphone would have been evdo on verizon, but only edge on ATT?
Also Yes the verizon UI stinks only because it has no Java.

The Prada is one expensive phone and your not paying for the technology is has but the damn name! Anything that has the Prada name has to be icensed to use the name and they get big bucks for the name. If the phone didn't have the Prada name it would be way less expensive. As the old saying goes, Gucci could put two stripes of real dodo on their products and people would still buy it. LOL

ok first i know Nokia is god of cell phones i was saying the iphone is selling very well. next verizon UI we all know is crap i cant wait to see how locked down the prada is going to be. now regarding EVDO some reports say we MAY see apple iphone 2.0 in September 2007 yes with 3G so forget that edge **** and finally jobs knew the iphone was going to sell so of course he wanted most of the profit. i am sure by the time prada is released we will see iphone 2.0 also.

You have to wonder why VZ came out with new pricing plans today, Hmmmm because they are loosing customers, the price is more expensive, only covers a few phones and I bet there are hidden charges galore as usual with VZ. Im a VZ customer, every month on my bill there is a fee called "administrative charge" what the hell is that and why am I getting charged for it. There are a few more, but that one is the most suspicious and dubious sounding "fee". Administrate this 😲

admin charge is how much it takes us to maintain your account...and also it accounts for you calling in.....all cellphone companies have them...but most companies charge you when you call in....They came out with the new pricing b/c thats what the cust were asking for...reduced data rates and basically more inclusive....ie the premium price plans include vznav. moble web...mobile email..unltd txt...vcast...everything....it is what it is....just simpler billing and more inclusive..
