I just want to point out that ATT does have 3g but almost NO WHERE! And CDMA is newer technology than GSM..... Someone said that Att is more advanced than Sprint. Not even close. Sprint by far the most advanced network!!!

Correction WCDMA is not a true extension of CDMA and that's why cellphone companies are paying less royalty to Qualcomm.
Again Correction HSPDA is slated at 6MPS download why Rev 1 is slated at it's technical limit of 3.6MPS.
The reality is EV-DO does not allow for Voice and Data to interact together, in other words if you are talking you can not surf the web, while WCDMA and HSPDA do allow it.
So you can love it all you want, your still behind the eight ball. Verizon sold it's Latin America division that allowed for 17 countries to have CDMA which are now bring converted to GSM because CDMA is not a viable solution (requires deployment of more towers in a closer network then GSM, making GSM the best choice) and Vodafone still push...

Verizon is a crap company but i love them because they put LOTS of money into my bank account the last day of every month :-) I worked for Sprint for years and kept the EVDO card on the employee plan ($15 a month) S720 which is a revA card. i was convinced that EVDO was faster until an engineer who worked for IBM had come in with his laptop and 3G card. It was a slow sunday and he conducted 4 speed tests in front of 2 other workers and myself. The results were both frusterating & embarrassing. Well CDMA is superior to GSM it's just not the world standard. By the time CDMA was ready for deployment in 1995, Sprint started in 1996, the world had moved to GSM.
So it came down to basics do we improve the GSM network or rip out what we have and move to CDMA. No one in the establish world was going to spend the money to deploy CDMA and maintain GSM to convert their users. Verizon had it easy because they went from TDMA to CDMA back in 1998, which was stupid of them, they would have gone GSM they would have been the biggest carrier.
