Negative Reviews Planted?

Is it just me- I feel a great deal of these negative Iphone reviews are being planted by the competing phone companies-they all sound pretty similar-almost likes it's a campaign for people not to spend money on this unique phone

It's just you. The only company who will hurt by this is Motorola, since their only handset selling is the RAZR, and those RAZR freaks are now jumping on the iPhone bandwagon.

Truth is, the hype was to massive for this handset, and now people are noticing that it is the first phone from Apple, and it will have bugs. People fell for the hype, got the phone and then realized that it's an over priced, old technology handset. It's not living up to the hype, and those who spent $600 expecting something from Star Trek, are upset that they got something from Titanic.

Is this dude for real!? Yes the hype was a little much but have you used it!? Really have you!? Because one thing I would NOT accuse the iphone of is being anything less than cutting edge. OK, "edge" may have been the wrong word there... ๐Ÿ‘€
Go play with the thing, don't be afraid. Try surfing the web with your finger, try zoom, try the stupid email for god's sake and then come back here and tell me with a staight face that despite all the hype and all the bugs and all the money that apple hasn't just caught the entire phone manufacturing industry with its thumb up its butt...
After five minutes with the iphone I can't even bear to use the antiquated peck and pray screen on my 8525 anylonger. The thing is literally ruined for me. ...

Excuse me? There aren't any subsidies for the iPhone. $499 and $599.

Yeah, old technology! I said it! You can't honestly say it's cutting edge, can you? Granted the user interface is really cool, but aside from that . . . what's cutting edge?

Touch screen? Seen that.

High Resolution display . . . yup, seen that too.

Bluetooth? Wait . . . how about A2DP? Ooooh, Jesus Phone doesn't have it.

E-Mail? Yeah, check. Seen that.

MP3 Player? Yeah, seen that too.

3G Date? Oooooh, no 3G!

WiFi? Yeah, seen that too.

Memory? Yeah, has a nice hard drive in it, but I had an MP3 player with 40gigs of space and my phone uses a 4 gig card.

Quad Band? Mmmmm, yeah, got that too.

I'm not going to waste "$400" on a something that I can already do with my phone, which half the price. Actual...

I was thinking the same thing. Reviews from actual respected companies (CNET, Pc Mag, NYT, etc...) have all been quite good. After using the iPhone for a day I absolutely think it lives up to the hype and have found very few errors with it. Seems planted to me.

A good many (but not all) of the most vigorously negative reviews on this site do appear to be plants, yes. A good many appear to have been written by folks who haven't bought the phone, and for some reason seem offended by the notion that people might actually be buying it.

Some of them appear to just be in effect ads for Sprint, posted by folks who think they're clever. Some are posted by folks who just got (perhaps justifiably) annoyed with the hype, but now feel a need to unleash some backlash. Some seem to be futile attempts by testosterone-addled cretins who are under the impression that trashing the iPhone will somehow compensate for their inadequacies in the manhood department.

And then some of them are from folks who legitimat...

And just as many positive reviews planted too. Let's face it, you can't realistically gush about a phone you have had for 2 hours.

Agreed. Honestly, I work for AT&T, and am very ANTI apple. I had been very skeptical, particularly since everyone was making such a HUGE FRIGGIN DEAL out of it. But on i-phone day, I played with it as much as I could, and... I hate to say it... I like it.
It's got it's downsides. No edge. No video capture (WTF?!). kinda wish there was an actual keypad.
But in my area, the Edge is pretty good, the camera quality is pretty good, and, well... the multitouch is cool.

If your phone is dropping calls let and right like some users here have said, there's probably something wrong with the area you're in or the sim card.

I have posted a few negative views after I broke down and bought the thing. I have no connection with any wireless company. So I know my reviews are based on fact from my own experience. Before I purchase a phone I always come to Phonescoop and read the reviews. Beleive it or not I have had great luck purchasing some great phones because of the people on this forum and reviews.

That being said, I read the reviews on the Iphone, very negative on the most part, but for some reason, instead of normaly doing what I do and taking the reviews to heart. I purchased the phone anyway, guess I had to experience this phone on my own since it's such a "revolutionary product" when in reality when one looks at it, it's an Ipod with a phone built in...
