Is anyone having issues with the battery life with this phone? I have had the phone for a week now and it seems after making 3 - 5 short phone calls that the battery will drop to have the life in it.

Yes, I've had a battery issue. This phone is beautiful in design and function, 😁 BUT, for me the battery might be a showstopper.

My first u540, I charged it fully before using it much at all, but after about 2/3 of a day, it shut itself off. When I turned it on, it said low battery. This was the first day, so I took it back.

Verizon replaced the phone and battery, but again, after about 2/3 of a day (on the second phone), the battery was down to 1 bar out of 4 or 5. 👀

I like the phone so much that I let the guy at Verizon talk me into buying an extended battery ($50!). This should NOT be necessary, but he said the really slim batteries often don't work so well. If this fixes the problem, I guess I'm OK. One nice thing is...

I may have been mistaken.

In my office, I get no signal. I've heard people say a phone will search for a signal in this situation, draining the battery. If that's true, it's been going on for 8 hours a day. So I've started turning my phone off at work. This seems to make a big difference. Now my extended battery is lasting maybe 3 days. Even including over the weekend, when there's no shut off time. So maybe this wasn't truly a phone or battery problem.

Because of all the complaints on battery life for this phone, I had to put in my two cents...
I've had this phone for about two weeks, and I've charged it 3 times (not counting when I first bought it). I use the music player daily, and I've been playing with the phone a lot because the new toy quality hasn't worn off yet, and I'm getting 3 or 4 days out of a charge (I could get more if I pushed it, but I never let it drop below one bar). I'm sure the complaints about battery life are legit, but perhaps it was simply a bad batch, because mine's lasting much longer than expected.

Have you tried CDMA mode only? If you don't use VCAST it may save some battery life. Go to the Settings screen, press #, enter 000000 , go to Pref Mode and select CDMA only.

If you use VCAST don't do this !!!!!!!!!!!
