Ringtone size... :( PLEASE HELP!

Hello everyone! haha
okay well I got the BitPim and I converted all my cropped ringtone music files
and most of them were over 350kb...
The biggest one is about 480kb... 😲
I know, scary, right? lol

anyways,
I put all of them in my phone,
and I tested out with the biggest one (30 sec, 480kb one)
and it works just fine!
But I was wondering...

You know, since I thought the maximum size of the ringtone was 300kb or 350kb,
I thought this MIGHT cause some problem in the future.. or... maybe not? 😕

cuz I used BitPim.. and if my phone stops working someday because of this,
I'm afraid that I'm not gonna get support from Verizon (even though I have the full insurence)

So.. anybody have any idea that might help?
Do you guys ...

LG Phones

Hate to say it guys, but the last couple of LG Phones s**k. The 8100, the 8300 now the 8500. Then again, I had a Sammy and Moto with voice dial problems, that sent everything to text. Maybe it's VZW that s**ks.

Sound/Voice Note as Ringtone

On my old LG phone I was able to set a Voice Note or other built-in sound as a ringtone. I don't see that as an option when I'm browsing the sounds on my 8500. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Ringtone too big??

Hi there,

I just bought my Chocolate phone yesterday.

I browsed this forum and thought I had it all under control...but it didn't work. 😢

I'm trying to set personal music as a ringtone. I cut the song via audacity and exported it as a mp3. Then I went to funformobile and sent the clip to my phone. My phone says the message was too big!!

I tried this with a 25 second clip, 20 second clip and 15 second clip and it still says: "MSG is too big. Can't recieve MSG." I tested the clips a couple times by playing them on my media players and none are more than 30 seconds long.

Am I doing something wrong here?

make your battery last lonnnnnger

just simply go into the phones serv menu by pressing menu 0 then the 6 0's for the password and then go to numb 3 network select then mode pref, then 1x only. u can't run the nav or vcast or others that require that spec netowrk but the battery lasts longer i would rather have the battery last rather than vcast at times.

Slider glitch?

Does anyone else have this problem: Frequently when I slide open the phone (I would say about 25% of the time on average), it automatically goes to the "recently dialed" menu and automatically dials the most recent number called (or received). It's really, really frustrating. And if it does it, which forces me to slide the phone shut to hang up, it's likely to do it several more times before stopping. And no, I'm not opening the phone with my finger on the "dial" touchkey...

Anyone else have this problem? I tried adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad to "low", figuring that the jolt of sliding open the phone might be automatically setting off the dial button several times, but the problem remains...

Using Web by connecting Chocolate to Laptop

Hi,

I am considering buying a LG VX8500 (Chocolate) and I have a couple of questions.

1. I want to connect it to my laptop to get on the internet. I don't want the broadband service because I only connect once or twice a week to check e-mail when I am away. My e-mail usually has spreadsheets as attachments which is why I need it to come through my computer. On my old phone, I could connect to Quick2Net and it just went against my minutes. I realize this is a bit slower, but I want to do the same thing (if possible). I don't want to violate any policies. Is this possible? How to...?

2. I am going to need a cable. Should I purchase the Mobile Office Kit or the Music Essentials Kit? I was told that the MEK is a better cable and w...

incomming calls not coming through?

when i'm at my house, my chocolate gets 1-3 bars of service. it can always dial out to make a call, but the overwhelming majority of the time cannot recieve calls. i'll call my cell from my land line, it will ring 2-3 times and then my voice mail will come on as if i missed the call. it is very irritating because my old phone didn't quite have this problem. any suggestions? possibly my phone?

Battery Life issues?

I am wondering if anyone else is having battery life issues with this bad boy. I have now fully charged the battery 2x on the home charger to get best charge and had the phone be totally dead within 12 hours each time. I thought maybe it was just from all the playing around with settings, toying with the music player, etc. on the first day (new toy syndrome I'm sure we all have). Yesterday I charged the phone up and took it off the charger at 6PM and it woke me up this morning at 3AM as it was making it's little chime before powering down. I made 2 10 minute phone calls and did NOTHING else with it other than to check that the music files I loaded onto the 1gig card played ok. That was playing about 10 seconds of about 4 songs to check out t...

Playlist Questions

My question is about playlists. When using Windows Media Player to sync songs to the phone, you select the playlists on your PC that you want transferred. But while it transfers the songs themselves to the phone, it doesn't transfer the playlists into the "playlists" menu on the phone. Am I doing something wrong? Or do you have to re-create the playlist once you've synced the songs? Because that's a major and seemingly unnecessary hassle, to have to replicate a playlist by scrolling through your entire library on the chocolate, when it could have just been transferred via the sync. Please tell me I'm just doing something wrong and there's a way to fix this.

problem with the shortcut keys

i purchased my 8500 a few days ago and started to set it up as to how i like it. on my LG 8100 and 7000 the "up" shortcut key on the directional pad was defaulted to mobile web which is how I want it on my new phone. My 8500 defaulted to this as well however it doesn't work. I've tried moving it to a different shortcut key, reset the default settings, etc and it still will not work. Is anybody else having this problem or I am just the lucky one that needs to go back to the store and have the phone replaced? Also, the "up" arrow on my key works for everything else on the phone (contacts, songs, etc) so I know thats not the problem.

Thanks in advance.
