working around with low volume

I read through the reviews for this phone, and a lot of people have indicated that there is a problem with low volume on the speakerphone as well as the earpiece. Has anyone worked around this via software update, bluetooth, etc...? Thanks in advance.

Read your review of this phone and one thing is painfully obvious. You've never had good cellphone, and you surely don't know how to operate this one. Go back to something that is more your speed, like say...Nextel.

Battery and Hissing Issues

Somehow people on the net as well as on phonescoop ratings seems to be complaining about hissing while playing audio (playback?). However, I get hissing while on a conversation. The person on the other line asks me if there is a wind blowing by, or a waterfall. Do you guys have this problem? Is there a way to know what verzion of software I have on my sony W810i?

In addition when you guys say you get 5 hours of talk time, does it mean you can continously talk on the phone for 5 hrs and not have the batttery run out on you? I am getting only 1 hr of talk time. Is this normal?

Vibrate while charging?

So I generally have my phone on the vibrate and ring mode. This way I can feel it in my pocket if I'm in a loud room or on the bus and can't hear the ringer. However, when I plug in my phone to charge, the vibrate and ringer are still activated. Now why doesn't the vibrate turn off automatically when you plug it into charge?

My old SE automatically switched to a ring only mode when you connected the charger. Seems like this W810i should have the same capabilities. Am I missing something?
Thanks

(sorry for also posting a similar question on another thread but it's more appropriate as a new thread)

Two questions before I buy (or more)

I'm coming from the Nokia 6230 phone and as a phone, it's been great. But I think something's wrong w/ my particular phone....gets horrible reception at my house while everyone else's is fine. So I'm really used to the Nokia system of doing things.

1. How easy is it to text message w/ this phone? Is there a shortcut key to get to messaging quickly? Will it be a big jump to have to re-learn where the space and back key are while texting?

2. Can you set custom ringtones for different callers?

3. How quickly can you change the ringing options to Silent or Vibrate?

4. Will it work internationally?

5. Doesn't work w/ "Push To Talk" does it?

6. Anything "big" I'd be missing from leaving a Nokia phone?

SE w810 vs Samsung Sync

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a phone that will make calls well, and play my music. They both have music players and both have great cameras. I won't use the 3G on the Sync, but I'm not ecstatic about the candy bar style of the w810.

What do you all think?

Missing features from floor display?

I noticed some differences between my phone and the store model today. One in particular, the store phone featured a slight vibration when scrolling through menus to signify scrolling. How can I access this on my phone? Is it theme specific?

Modem Tethering- Can Cingular detect?

Does anyone know if Cingular can detect modem tethering with w810i? I recently signed up for MediaNet unlimited data plan under the impression that Cingular couldn't detect modem tethering? If you have any experience with this, would you share your insights? Thanks a lot!

GPS Kits for W810?

Has anyone used the Wayfinder or Telenav services on their phone?

I'm wondering how well they work and if it's worth getting it.

Time to put my wonderful w810 on my desk for display. My k790a ships tomorrow. I hope and trust its every bit as good, even better, than my w810 is....

New Headphones

Just wanted to say that I upgraded to the HPM-65 headphones (over the ear style) and they are much more comfortable and stay in my ears much easier.

Also, I now have an extra headphone port that I just keep in my car so I always have my music with me.

Email POP

👿

I had a customer come in this morning with new Cingular released Sony W810....
AWESOME DISPLAY....
however one thing i did notice, Cingular removed the POP email settings option and replaced it with the new (yet not very good and certainly not improved) MOBILE EMAIL....

at least one his phone.

can anyone please confirm if this is the email settings that Cingular has in fact done to ALL the phones.

I really wanted this phone, but if Cingular blocked popping my GMail account, im buying an unlocked one for more, just because it does more of what im looking for.

THanks.
