Backlight off, help needed

Hello! I am hoping someone can help me. I accidentally set my Backlight to "off" and now the phone screen is completely dark and cannot get it to light up at all. The manual seems useless for this because it says (under troubleshooting) that if the backlight is set to "off" go to the Settings menu, etc etc, but since I cannot see a thing, how can I follow the menus? I am completely frustrated! (I otherwise ADORE this phone, and this is the first problem I've had.) Does anyone know the secret to solving this? Thanks in advance!!

Couple of simple questions

Hi,

I have a tracfone Nokia (very simple cell phone). I would like to get a Motorola C139.

Questions:

To transfer my phone directory and minutes, is it as simple as just transferring the SIM card to the new unit?

When I had an old Motorola with verizon, I could maintain my phone directory with an interface cable and some software. Does that exist for the C139?

Thanks

Where can I find instructions?

This is my first cell phone (yeah, I know...welcome to the digital age) and it was given to me by my Brother-in-law. He bought it when he was home on leave from the military & gave it to me when he went back overseas since he can't use it there. He threw out all the instructions & packaging & I am clueless as to how to do anything but turn it on & make a call. He didn't even leave us the phone number. Does anyone know where I can find instructions I can down load? I've looked and come up empty handed thus far.

If not, can anyone tell me how to navigate the phone? I'd appreciate it!

Screen goes blank, what do I do?

This is an okay phone, but it drives me nuts that the display goes blank every 20 seconds or less. What button do I press to reactivate it WITHOUT losing track of where I was?

When the display goes blank, every button I press takes me off the screen I was working on. What's the secret? Thanks, Dave

How do I lock and unlock the keypad on the phone when in my purse?

😲 I'm a little confused???? How do I lock and unlock the keypad??? Will it automatically unlock when you push send to answer a call? (that is if you can lock the keypad) I have read the book but am unsure if that is what they are referring to in the directions. Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks for reading!!!!

How Do I: Silence the Keypresses

Looked all thru the manual and the menues. Waiting for a reply from Motorola, but I thought I'd come here and ask too.

I just want it to stop BEEPING on every $#@#$ keypress. I don't need noise to confirm I'm doing something, and I certainly don't need people on the other sides of walls being bothered by me looking something up in my phone.

Help? 🙂

ringtone composer

I have a tracfone c139 and the ringtones suck. I cannot download ringtones to my phone as I do not have internet access on the phone. All I can do is use the ringtone composer to make my own. Are there any sites that have the codes so all I have to do is punch it into my phone without downloading a ringtone converter to my pc.

Monthly Plan?

Is it possible to switch from a prepaid plan to a monthly plan with a Motorola C139? I sometimes forget to renew my minutes before they run out and am considering switching to a monthly plan.

Does anybody know?

OKay, So I just bought this phone, I like it, its a nice phone. But. I go to put an entry in to the phone book, and I can't figure out how to capitalize the first letter. It's really bugging me, and I hope they didnt leave that feature out, that would be just stupid. Post if you know ...

Thanks,

2 or More Templates in Message

When I am composing text messages, I can insert one of my templates into the message. What do I need to do to get the ability to insert a second template into the message?

C139

Do not expect miracles or bells and whistles from a basic GSM cellphone. Making and receiving calls is what it is all about. You get a TFT display on a tiny screen which is a great perk. The size is really convenient. Got a problem with that then go post-paid and pay over $100.00 for a phone which will cost you more than your monthly bill. One thing that would be nice would be if this phone can be unlocked and used as post-pay and not have the minute balance software locked in the phone. 🙂

font grade

Is it possible to disable the display zoom? For instance, I'd like to see the phone number on one single line. This is actually not possible because of the display zoom. With a little font grade there would be enough space on the display to show it on a single line. It's just a detail but I don't understand why to waste space with these big fonts if the display is already little...
