why does the ringer sometimes not ring?

We just got this phone for sale. have had a couple come back not able to ring. Has anyone actually use this phone yet? I am wondering if the Video ringer somehow interferes with the sound ringer. Once you set the profile for Video Ring mode will that stop the sound from ringing?...any thoughts? What about if you changed from the video ring then back to sound ring? I am just pondering because I can't find any mention in the user guide about if the video ring mode would affect a normal sound ringer, or if it does.

Backlight shuts off too soon

I have tried adjusting every setting I can think of to get the lighting for the interior screen to stay on. But no matter what I do, the light shuts off after about 15 seconds and you can't see anything. Can you folks help me?

Are Nokia's really all they're cracked up to be?

I have never owned a Nokia before but they seem to be pretty popular. I have owned LG and Samsung mainly and I've always had a bit of a problem finding the perfect phone. The phonebooks on most phones are usually too small and this Nokia has a 500 name capacity so it's intriguing to me for that but I have no experience with Nokia and I'm not sure what to expect. Sprint hasn't carried many Nokia models other than the candy bar style, and I definately need a clamshell design. I currently have the Samsung a740 and I like it but it has many limitations and I wondered how Nokia compares to Samsung. Any thoughts or suggestions? Also, does anybody have a clue when this phone will be available?

Headed for SPRINT, not Verizon

Mark it down. Nokia rep told me this would be a Sprint phone. The "multimedia playback" functions (Sprint TV) and lack of EV-DO pretty much confirm this.

I dont think its a verizon phone

I dont think its going to be a verizon phone for couple of reasons like go online and download vidoes i know that verizon has vcast but the phone doesnt support EV-DO so that would work and plus it comes with ring video thats like picture id calling but with video. Verizon doesnt support that. but lol. verizon is comming with the crippled version of 6255i.

I bet you!

I bet you a 1000bucks verizon will not carry this phone. why? cause they only carry boring crap phones. I so wish verizon will carrry,but they wont for some reason or another. Sprint will get it I bet.

"The Nokia 3155 CDMA phone will be available in India, Indonesia and New Zealand."

From http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,72222,00.ht ml

It also says:
Operating Frequency

* Dual band operation
* CDMA 800/1900 Mhz

Does this mean it's not coming to VZW? Or is their page just outdated? I sure hope it is...

CCD Camera Phones

Were there any camera phones that use a CCD sensor rather than a CMOS?

All the megapixels in the world done mean a thing if the lens and the sensor are not high quality.

If you compare the MPX220 1.3 mp CMOS camera to the SE S710A 1.3 mp CCD camera there is no comparison.

Aside from the s710a are any other manufacturers planing on putting together a phone with a CCD camera to compete with the s710a?

The reason I ask is that I like all the features on the Sony-ericsson, but I do not like their interface. I may stand alone on this fact but I prefer the motorola interface, especially when it comes to their predictive text input and various menu navigation.

I am trying out the s710a for a few days and I have decided they...

VZW Out this Summer

Nokia rep came to my store with a plastic dummy model of this phone. She said it would be out sometime this summer around July. She also said Nokia would be coming out with a small bar phone around June.

VZW and Sprint will probably have this

It has no bluetooth and looks to be a good phone. Nothing amazing on the phone, but I can't see why Verizon or Sprint would not carry it unless Nokia gets unhappy that VZW won't lauch the 6255i.
I still hope for the 6255i to come out as well with 6235i.
Those 3 phones for CDMA can get them back in the CDMA sales for the National providers.

I think what is missing

That should have been reported were the small upstart companies.

I talked to some of the manufacturer reps and more than a few of them were impressed with the design and build qualities of some of the smaller Chinese and Korean venture groups.

One group that was really impressive at the show was NewGen with their really cool designs.

Under an inform discussion in the eating area, some of the these product managers feel that in the next 10 years, some of them (like Hop On, Bird, New Gen, Telson) maybe in the top 10 market and some of the older stalwarts in the world markets (like Alcatel, Philips, Siemens and Mitsubishi) may pull out as phones becomes total commodity items.
