Question for those knowledgeable about computers

I know this is unrelated to the vx9800, but the people on this forum seem to know a lot about new technology.

What is the best laptop computer available these days?

Does 9800 have equilizer?

I noticed in the verizon store that the 8100's front LCD had a really cool show going when MP3's played with the beats and tones going up and down (i think this is called an equilizer) does my phone have this once i get an SD card? (9800)
Does anyone recommend what SD card i should buy and how much they run?!
also is there a way to set my camera settings to always show dual LCD mode or flash without choosing it every single time?

New LG commercial for the 9800

I found it interesting that LG came out with a commercial for the 9800 instead of VZW. Verizon usually advertises their new top of the line phones. The commercial really sells the phone. I liked it.

Bluetooth crippled?

I was looking at this phone the other day and heard that a lot of the blue tooth is crippled. What features are blocked if any, and also is there anyway to get around that so I can have full access to it?
Thanks a ton!

VX9800 MiniSD Sub Folders (for pictures and music)

Two questions/observations:

The phone won't recognize any sub-folders under the "My MP3s" folder and the picture one either. That's a shame because with all those Megabytes it really has the potential to store my entire photo collection, resized down appropriately (thanks to XP) - but it would be really messy and unorganized; I wish there was a way to organize the photos and songs into folders on the phone.

Also, this is a silly/newbie question but is it possible to take an MP3 and turn that into your ringtone? I'm not talking about beeps and boops type ringtones a la Midi, I'm talking about real songs? Couldn't figure this out.

Thanks,
Cyrus

A good converter - ImTOO 3g2 converter

I had my phone for a week. I am really happy with this purchase. I had many phones and I am the most happy with one.

If anyone is interested in a good converter to convert your movies, videos, film clips - I would like to suggest trying the ImTOO 3g2 converter. I feel you get better results from this program then the Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0. I have tried both.

Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0 is a free program found:
http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,034-63,00.html »

ImTOO 3g2 Converter is not a free program (cost $29.00):

I have converter all 10 episodes of Showtime’s TV Original series "Weeds". The video play back quality on the LG VX 9800 is amazing. To get the best quality...

Menu screen

questions for you.....First i was playing w/ this phone y'day and i had the clam shut and was trying to set the ringer to vibrate and i couldnt find the option, then i opnend it up and realized the front screen was only showing 2 options and i had to open up the inside screen to see the remaining. Is this correct? In other words to see the full menu options do you have to have the phone open? Also is there a vibrate and/or ring function or only a vibrate?

Thanks

9800 to e815

Returned my 9800 and exchange it to e815. The only thing great about this phone is the key pad. Baterry life is horrible. The thing I like
also is the durability. But that's it.

Can this phone do what I need??

Thanks for taking the time to read… I want my phone to be able to access my gmail account. Similar to a blackberry, I want a phone to alert me when I receive a new email from gmail, and I want to be able to read and respond to the email from the device. Can this phone do that? What extra services will I need from Verizon (ie Mobile Web, Vcast, etc) Will I get charge per email message? Will I get charged airtime when writing/reading an email? I probably would have bought a blackberry, or treo already, but as far as I know, in order to access email from those “smart phones” it is an additional 40 a month. That is how much I pay for my phone service! Anyone know the cheapest way to get what I am looking for? I really want the qwerty f...

Testing the 9800 for dead pixels

There is a way to test your phones internal screen for dead pixels for free by entering the phone's service mode. ** Use caution ** -- if you play around with the service mode settings too much you could mess up your phone and it will have to be reset and/or returned to a store. But just by following the directions below want cause any harm.

* Make sure you internal screen is clean, very clean so that the test is accurate.
* Enter service mode by pressing the Menu (OK) button from the main desktop. Then press 0 (zero) and then enter in six 0's (zeros) for the service code.
* Next Choose 6 (H/W Test)
* Next Choose 9 (LCD Q Test)
* Use the arrow keys to scroll through the colors. To search for dead pixels go through each color screen an...

Mobile Office? Use phone as modem?

I know the phone has plenty of internet features, but there are still some times I need to connect via my laptop. Currently I can connect to the 1X network via my VX6000. Will I be able to do something similar with the 9800?

Thanks in advance.

mini SD card

I have songs on the miniSD card I used with the Sanyo MM-5600.
I took the card out and put it into this new phone.
But now when I try to play them on the VX-9800 it says there are none on my card.
Could anyone show me how to play them on the VX-9800? I love this phone!

Loading Personal Ringtones

Ok, I've been scouring the boards, and I think people are trying to point to methods that worked for the 8100 to try on the 9800, but...

HOW: Do I put cutom ringtones on here that I made myself? I've already truncated them, and loaded them on the SD mini in the /mysounds/, so now what? Obviously Bitpim doesn't have support for the 9800 yet (unless a new version arrived in the past 12 hours). So is there a way to make these "mysounds" into my ringtones? Thanks in advance!!!!!
