Question??? I need help!

A friend of a friend had a phone, that I believe was Nokia, that looked like this, I think, don't quote me on that, but when his phone rang, you could actually hear what the people were saying as his ringtone. You know how when you are calling somebody the phone is ringing, right, well what ever you are saying while it's ringing is what he hears as his ring tone, Crazy. But I thought it was really cool, and I wanted to get a phone like it, but now I can't find that guy, he works offshore, and no telling when he'll be back. So I was hoping somebody on this forum would know what I was talking about and could possibly help me. Thanks,
Raven

Using EDGE with unlocked 6170 and T-Mobile

Has anyone been using EDGE with this phone for T-mobile? I'll be getting the unlocked version again in the mail in a few days from Nokia (I broke my older one - long story I'll explain in a follow up user-review soon), and wanted to take advantage of the EDGE now being offered through T-mobile. But I was wondering if it was worth it, and what exactly's being done with it.

No Bluetooth = full feature my a$$

Without Bluetooth, it would be wrong to call a phone full-featured.

Please Help with Settings.

I posted this, but it doesn't appear on the front page, so I thought I would post it again so that someone would see it.

I just ordered this phone off of Ebay. I haven't received it yet, but was wondering how I will be able to get the setting for Media Net, MMS and Text messaging for Cingular sine it's not available through them at this time. Does anyone have the settings or know where I can get them? Thanks in advance. 😉

or T-Mobile ( 🙄 )..???
...perhaps another (regional) carrier?

available in my area

i was browsing the local carriers' websites, and noticed that in my area (zip 46765) this phone is available from centennial wireless, right now. i think a friend of mine even has it, he mentioned to me that he got a new nokia that has a vid cam, so i think this might be the one he was talkin about.

NO PHOTO ID!!!

According to the description, this phone does not have photo caller ID. Does anyone know if this is in fact true? I can't see how this phone will not have it. Thanks.

Low Reception

I just bought an unlocked 6170 to use on T-Mobile. I am very unhappy with the very poor reception that it gets when you have a weak signal. It does not seem to 'hold' the signal as well as my Motorola V600 or my wife's 6230. Has anybody else had this problem?

AIM (Instant Messaging)

I bought the international version and tried to access AIM but it said I have no coverage. It said that it had IM capability and I have service through T-Mobile?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any word on connectivity?

Nokia has been doing an awesome job adding Bluetooth to their high-end models, any idea if this phone will include it as well?

Also, are we looking at another s60 phone? This phone with the Series 60 platform and Bluetooth could easily be the closest thing I've seen to a perfect phone in a while.

It's NOT Series 40!!

It has a different screen resolution! The screens for series 40 is 128x128 pixels at 4096 colors! Is this maybe the first series 50 phone?

will this phone use mRouter?

I just bought and returned the 7610 because i need to sync with a Mac (please let's not have THAT discussion here). It seems that some Nokia series 60 phones use mRouter and some SyncML. Only the ones with mRouter work with the Mac. So any answers here? Or anyway to tell which Nokia phones will or won't use mRouter?

Does anyone have some good reliable information on the release date and the price for this phone? Thanks.

This is comparable to...

...the Sony Ericsson Z500. It's almost uncanny how similar the two phones are. Both are clamshells with dual color displays, EDGE, PTT, streaming video playback, VGA camera with video capture, speakerphone, internal antennas...

I think it's great, and they'll both be popular phones. But it's unusual to see two phones so similar coming out around the same time like this. I think perhaps we're finally getting to the point where U.S. GSM carriers have enough sway that they can dictate the phones they want, and the big makers are listening.

Just an observation...

PS: Look for an LG slider phone soon that also has pretty much this same feature set. 😉

It actually looks like Nokia is making some improvement...

Now let's not all get too excited. It's a Nokia, yes, but it's a flip phone from Nokia - not necessarily one of there trademark achievements. But, I feel that this phone will be a performer. Doesn't have me quite as excited as when the V600 came out, but it has a pleasant professional look. Since it has push-to-talk, it will be released beginning of next year I would think, when Cingular has a *Slated* release of PTT, despite the fact that is says 4th quarter release.
