Software/firmwate update works well

Got the software update Thurs 1/6 in San Diego, CA area. They put your phone on their update computer which downloads everything on your phone on their hard drive, then your phone is initialized (everything erased, then new software/firmware is loaded, then your data/preferences put back on. I was told it would take 30 minutes and it finished in a few minutes less than that. All went flawlessly and all my preferences were saved. Not all locations have update yet - call ahead.

Things I'm sure it fixed or improved: Completely fixed volume bug, and improved sound fidelity and volume in general - especially in speakerphone mode (my was already good before just not as good as the model 4500 I had before - now on a par with that). Overall ...

Text Size

Can anyone advise whether text size is normally good size or is adjustable? I need decent sized text as I get a lot of text messages from my answering service and I'm at the point where if the text is not decent size it's tough for me to read w/o reading glasses - a problem if I'm say driving around.

missed calls and speakerphone

Got the 6100 and it seems like a nice phone. However, what can you do for missed calls(not voice mail) to make it beep so you know you missed a call?
Secondly, Are the speakerphones tiny on the 6100 compared to the 4500, are do you have to live with it, especially if you put the volume up a litte?

lg6100 vs. lg8000

Just purchased an lg6100 an have 11 days to try it out. Does anyone no if the 8000 is coming out real soon for Verizon, an is worth getting that phone over the lg6100? One more question. Why can they not design it so you can use the speaker with the phone closed?
Thanks

What Constitutes a Missed Call?

If the phone is OFF and someone calls, but does not leave a voice mail message, is that shown as a missed call? How about if they left a voice mail message?

Also, if you receive a call when the phone is ON and you do not answer, but the caller leaves a voice mail message, does that show as a missed call?

Start - stop headphone for the 6100

Is there available a headphone for the 6100 that allows you to answer and end phone calls without having to use the phone itself. My previous phones (Motorola) worked with many different headsets with a button on the mic that did this. Is there one available?

power increase

I've read about "stick ons" that are placed under the battery and are supposed to help phones receive signals with the goal of reducing dropped calls. Does anyone have any experience with these. Also, I know that there is an aftermarket extendable antenna for the vx6000. Any experience with that device and does anyone know if one is out there for the vx61000. Thanks for the help.

Essentials kit leather case

Verizon sells an "essentials kit" for the vx6100 which includes a car charger, leather case, and Plantronics MX150 headset.

Can anyone tell me how well the leather case fits the phone?

Also, does the case have a spring-loaded belt clip, or does it use the two-piece 'click-lock' system (stub on the back of case clips into plastic belt clip).

Thanks

Potential for animated wallpapers?

Considering the opening wallpaper when you first activate the phone is a rotating picture of random guy surfing, it obviously must be able to be done... however.

Has anyone figured out how to add animated wallpaper (or even a way to have a few random pictures cycle quickly round and around) as the background for their phone? Just wondering if it's something that can be done or not...

Phone number lookup while dialing?

I just got a new 6100 a few weeks ago. I upgraded from an old VX-1 phone. One feature I miss -- on the VX1, if I just started dialing a phone number, the phone would display a list of phone numbers from my phonebook that matched what I had typed so far. So there were some numbers where I found it faster to just dial the first few numbers, and hit to find the number, instead of digging through the contacts list.

Is there any way to enable this behavior on the 6100?

lg6100vslg6000

I was wondering why the lg 6000 got a better rating than the lg 6100 on the cnet review. Is the 6000 better, or should i get an lg 4500 for a 2nd line?
