Phone keeps restarting ,, Endless loop!! :(

🤭
I was in access web, Trying to download vemail.
It allows you to view gmail and such. Then all of a sudden the phone powered off. Now it's in a endless loop. I take the battery out, Plug it back in and it powers on says alltell then powers off, It will repeat this for ever. I've tried holding the End button down nothing works.
It's just an endless loop. Any suggestions here?
Or a way to force a reset? I tried plugging it into the charger, Leaving it unpluged for 5 hours.
Nothing works. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thankyou 🙂

Force Digital Towers

Can the LX5550 force digital towers only? My last cell phone, you had to go into programming mode to make it force the digital only towers. I live on the fringe area of analog and it takes up too much battery switching back and forth. I can't seem to find how to change it to digital only. Any help appreciated...

Number of rings

Is there a way to change the number of rings before the phone goes to voice mail? Have one that seems to vary at times from 1 ring to 3 rings.

Can This Phone Force Towers?

🙂

Hi!

I just picked up my first cell phone, and so far I'm enjoying myself!

However, today I decided to call my home and leave myself a message so that I could see how well my voice comes through the phone and goes across the network. Considering there's plenty of coverage in my area, I didn't bother to check and see if I was roaming. Well I was, and I logged a 22 second roam call. 😢

Not a big deal. But I was just curious as to if anyone has figured out how to force towers with the 5550. From now on I'll be more careful, but it would be nice to be able to keep it from roaming, period.

I've looked through the manual diligently, but with no luck. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

LED light on LG LX5550

This may be a weird question, but what is the small LED light in the upper right hand corner of the phone for? I assumed it should periodically blink green, or something, to show that the phone is on, but it only lights up when I receive an incoming call. Is this normal? It just seems odd that the outer display looks the same whether the phone is on or off. Thanks for any help or insight on this.

Missed call/voicemail reminder beep?

My old phone had a feature which could beep periodically if there were an unacknowledged missed call or voicemail message. I have not figured out how to do this with my LG phone; if I get a call when I step out of the room for awhile (with the phone on my desk) I consequently may not notice it for awhile.

My old phone also had a handy vibrate-then-ring setting. The new LG phone doesn't seem to.

I also miss the ability to create my own ringtones; sure the old monophonic ringtones were 'bleepy', but I was able to do a lot of stuff programming from the keypad. Too many new ringtones don't sound like ringtones anymore.

I like the speakerphone, and the fact that reception is better than my old phone, but I find myself 'annoyed' at the...

Disable start up sounds

Is there a way to turn off the sounds that occur when you first turn on the LG 5550?
I am often in places they request that cell phones be turned off and have to go to another area to check by messages -- but it's still a quiet area and the noise from turning on the phone disturbs people. Is there anyway to turn this off so the phone doesnt make any noises when I turn it on? Does this affect any other features? (when I have it on, I need it to ring since it's in my bag most of the time)

thank for the help 🙂

make and answer calls with clamshell closed

I’m impressed with this phone but I can’t believe how bad the manual is. This is my first serious cell phone so maybe I haven’t been “schooled” in the art of reading cell phone manuals but here are some examples of common things you need to do that are never mentioned anywhere in the manual (and I even searched the electronic version):
- how to turn speakerphone on or off
- how to turn vibrate mode on or off

I would love a "real" manual that tells me about the things I actually want to do with this phone and explains the features in detail (instead of one liners).

That said, what I really want to do with this phone is to make and receive calls with the clamshell closed and just use the speakerphone. I get the impression from other...

Anyone know which software version on the LX-5550 allows you to enter a pause when editing the voicemail number stored in speed dial location 1?

Voice Mail Number

Anybody know how to insert a hard pause and access codes into the Voice Mail access number stored in Speed Dial register No.1? It doesn't give that option when editing it. Not like editing regular speed dial numbers.

Bitpim and Wallpapers

I've been using Bitpim to download wallpapers from my computer to the LG 5550. However, bitpim converts everything to .BMP so I'm unable to use any animated .GIF. Is there a way to bypass this conversion or another program to use?

Verizon Question

Does anyone know if I would be able to purchase this phone and use it with Verizon? I currently have a VX4500 I am trying out under their 15-day trial period. Looks like the LX5550 is very similar only it has analog as well which the VX4500 does not. I had to compromise with the VX4500 - I wanted analog but this was the only phone Verizon had that met my other requirements - so I got it.
Thanks!
