epic vs. evo

so im on the fence about which to get. ive seen the evo and played with it a bit, it seems fast, pretty smooth with everything, and the cameras and video recording is pretty beast. but it lacks the keyboard that i so love. and from the reviews, i hear mostly amazing things about screen and speed for the epic, but its lower resolution camera lacks the clarity that a 5mp should have. and the wifi seems to lack the evo as well. i pray they get around to fixing that but with the amoled screen the battery is supposed to last a while longer than the evo. what r u guys going with, have, or recommend?

Avatar Movie

Where is it? I was under the impression that it was coming preloaded on the epic? Here is a vid of a Sprint REP playing the movie in a review yet I can't seem to find this Video player that he clicks on...(Its not media hub)

Fireworks Through a Screen Door

The Samsung Super AMOLED displays are like looking through a screen door.

Although everything looks very 'poppy' , this is the worst screen of anything this resolution. The Droid Incredible has a 'slight' screen door effect- on the Epic 4G it's -significantly- worse than any other phone sold today in that price range, especially with any white/black text combination.

How many people are sick and tired of waiting?

I am sick of waiting for the Epic 4g so I lost some hype. Not as excited as a month ago. I pre-ordered the phone at my local Radio Shack on Aug 13th and will not buy it on launch day. The wait seems like its a couple of months until release day. I only qualify for a $75 upgrade and Radio Shack retail price for the epic is $550. That means im only getting $25 off of the $499 price using my 1 year upgrade. Totally not worth it. I will use the $50 gift certificate toward something else and read reviews on phonescoop. As soon as I find a new epic 4g for $400 out the door on Craigslist, then I will buy it.

no review of the front-facing camera, a major feature

Maybe it was in the video tour section, which I skipped, but otherwise the reviewer totally skipped over one of the most important features of this phone. I'm still shaking my head over that, and have to give this review an 'F' grade for such a massive blunder.

Enough already

Enough with the iPhone 4 comparisons, Im tired of hearing what the iphone has over this phone (or any other) or not. Its not trying to be, mimic or operate like a stupid iPhone. Some of us never owned an Iphone in the first place, nor want to. Every phone review that has to compare to the iPhone is biased and garbage. Please reviewer give us a honest review for once.

Epic reviews

Cnet, Engadgetmobile, Gizmodo and several others all have reviews up. Despite a few minor bugs that should be fixed, and some dislike of touchwiz, all call this a killer phone.

where should i buy the epic?

been loyal to radioshack and bought most of my cell phones there for years and i just heard they have a pre-order for the EPIC that starts tomorrow. just put a $50 down payment and they guarantee you a phone on launch day.

but, its a $50 RS gift card? what if i can't get to the store by the end of the two day hold at launch, gotta buy rs stuff. not bad but, who else has a deal like that?

who else is doing a pre-order and what are the other deals out there?

EVO 4G or Epic 4G?

I plan on purchasing an Android phone really soon and it's down to the EVO 4G and the Epic 4G. I'm really diggin' the EVO, but I really like the screen on the Epic.

Any suggestions?

Epic 4G Media Features inquiry

1. Does anyone know if the Epic 4G will have an HDMI Port to enable streaming of recorded HD Videos from this phone out to the TV? The Evo 4G has this feature and also enables this type of streaming.

2. How much of an fps resolution difference is there between the Evo's display and that on the Epic? It does look rather impressive and consequently, I'm thinking of this device for the wifey once 4G actually is live in our home area. (At present it is not but I have the evo and can use it at the work place.) Additionally, I heard the screen is 3D capable. Can anyone please confirm here as well as provide more detail if this is true?

3. The Samsung Media Hub, will this be more along the lines of a Netflix Streaming Service? Better? ...

Does anyone know?

Does anyone know if the Samsung Epic will have a multicolor led just like the blackberry? Can we select multiple recipients for sms just like the HTC Evo? I know the Samsung Moment we had to add each recipient 1 at a time. Thats an inconvenience. With the evo, all we had to do after typing the message is select contacts and check everyone we want to send it to. Plain and simple.

This is going to be my next phone, I wish AT&T would hurry up and release it.

P.S. I wish AT&T would have gotten the one with the keyboard.... Sad
