Texting

Does anyone know if you can make t9 learn new words programmed in ABC mode? I am thinking about getting this phone but if you can't make it learn words or names I will have to look for something else, thanks

loose hinge?

just got my alias 2 and i noticed when the phone is shut if i push the top of the phone to the side while holding the bottom still that the top moved slightly to the side as if the hinge may be loose. i understand it could be a result of only having a hinge on one side of the phone. just curious if other people have noticed the same thing or if maybe something is loose on my phone? otherwise the phone is great. thanks

Mainly for Lefties??

I'm considering getting this phone and I wouldn't have any doubts about it at all if it weren't for 2 things....
1. I'm afraid of the size of the buttons...are they hard to use? Do you get used to having small buttons? Are the alias 2's buttons bigger then the 1st alias? Because I've tried out the 1st alias and the buttons were just usable....not easy tho.
2. This is the main problem/ question...is this phone harder for right handed people to use? When you flip it to the QWERTY keyboard, the control buttons (up, down, OK, etc.) are on the left hand side....do you ever get used to them or is it always annoying to control it with your left hand, right handed people?
I hate sounding picky, but I want to make sure that I love the phone that ...

Buttons

I picked up the phone to see how it would feel to text on it in Walmart (the dummy phones that they have sitting out). It was REALLY hard to press the buttons. Is this a problem with the actual phone or is this just because people abuse the dummy phones by pressing down way hard and ruining the buttons? I figured that might be why. thanks!

multiple format texts

I have the alias 1 phone currently and am considering the alias 2. My complaint with the alias 1 is that with a lot of multiple format texts, the alias 1 wont allow them to be forwarded. Is this still a problem with the alias 2?

cases for the alias 2

Has anyone found a clip/snap-on case for the alias 2 yet? I know they have the leather pouches but I'm hoping they come out with a case that just clips or snaps on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

Is this a normal reception problem with this phone?

Hi,

I previously owned and used a Motorola K1m Krzr for two years before upgrading to the Samsung Alias 2 and overall I've enjoyed it's many features and performance but unfortunately I live in an area with poor a poor signal. However as bad as our reception here is, I could always carry on a conversation with someone if I was in the right places around our home or outside with my old Motorola but with this phone I've noticed that no matter where I am around the house (inside or out) I will get VERY choppy reception...to the point where I hardly ever here an entire sentence the other person is saying. Sometimes instead of just getting every other word or so I'll just get syllables. This happens regardless of whether the batter is full ...

Front display tricks.

I have read a couple of reviews where the person is upset that they need to flip the phone open to see what time it is, but you can actually trigger the front display to turn on by simple holding any of the side buttons in for about 2 seconds. Also you can read text messages without opening the phone too. Just set the text option to "auto view", and the next time you get a text, you can read it on the front screen. You also have the option reply with a quick text by means of the mp3 player touch keys on the front. Cool stuff.

Alias 2 vibrate mode won't function

My wife and I each have the Alias 2 and love them, however neither of our phones will vibrate even though we have vibrate activated and the icon shows on the screen. The phone is just silent in that mode when a call comes in. Any ideas?

Alias 2 Bluetooth Stereo

I picked up the Alias 2 phone a few days ago. I like it for the most part, although I was very disappointed with the sound of the Bluetooth Stereo.
Music through wired headphones sound fine, but when I connect it to either my BT headphones or car stereo, the sound is soft and extremely tinny.
My previous phone was the Moto v9m, which sounded much better. I also do not remember the Samsung Trance sounding bad.
Is the bluetooth stereo on the Alias 2 really this bad? I can't imagine it's my setup because I tried it with both BT headphones and a car stereo.
Anyone have thoughts on it?

that fun ringtone topic

I'm one of those audacity guys... We've gotta figure out how to put our homemade's in the My Ringtones folder on the SD card! I've noticed that we can still email them to our phones and save them to the phone, but it seems that with the newer tech in these phones, higher bitrates sound better... As we all know, higher bitrates = more memory...

I'll be workin' hard on this, but any help would be much appreciated...

Music from PC to phone via memory card

I just recently purchased this phone. I have put some songs on the memory card via the computer.

I put the VCAST Raphsody on my computer and used that program, etc.., but not having luck getting the music on the phone.

After inserting the card, I go thru the steps to put the songs in MY MUSIC....there is an option to have the phone scan the memory card.......but nothing happens.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

THanks.

over in the "Review: Samsung Alias 2" discussion:

Backwards compatible battery?

Does anyone know if the 1300ma extended life battery (and cover) from an "original" Alias will fit the Alias 2?

I use the outside of the phone for texting sometimes, but for some reason T9 word won't learn new words... I've tried to teach it things like 'haha' but it just won't do it.

Am i missing something? 😳

EVDO hound it's not

So here's what my Alias 2 has been doing lately. Launch mobile web, watch the signal indicator switch between EVDO & 1X like it can't make up it's mind. 👀
Then when the mobile web finely gets to the home page it's switched to full on 3 bars of 1X.

WHAT GIVES? 😳

I don't live in the boonies and the LG Dare always had EVDO coverage.
