Prototype???

Is it me or is this just going to be the first of many for Tmobile? I mean, The phone does look terrible so it wouldn't surprise me that there just using this to create something better in the long run... Even though this is made my HTC it still seems like they need to do some work with the Tmobile network... Anyone else feel the same? 😳

is the phone shipped unlocked?

I thought I read that it was. And that this is the first phone on T-Mobile's network to do this. So if I don't get a Signal with T-Mobile, I could with an AT&T SIM in the phone?

I'm also finding that the phone is $399 to buy. But if I sign up and pay $179, cancel, and pay the $150, and than signup with AT&T with the $35 activation, It would still be less than $399.

for anyone who does have the G1, try the AT&T chip and see if you can make a call.

Thanks,

Maarek

Sync on Mac.

Does anyone know what the syncing situation is for mac users. I went to a T-Mobile store yesterday, and really liked the device after playing with it for like 10 minutes. However, they are pretty clueless when it comes to syncing the phone with a mac, or a pc for that matter.

I have all of my contacts in Address Book and calendar events in iCal. I don't want to have to switch to web based Google calendar/contacts just so that things can sync with the phone. I have BB Pearl now and "PocketMac" which is free from BB syncs everything up for me when I connect via USB. Does G1 have similar software? Or are the syncing services limited to OTA Google web-based solutions?

This phone has even more flaws then the iphone

I think t-mobile was trying way to hard to have there own iphone and picked up all the cons of it as well. No video, No stylus, lame browser speeds. t-mobile lets get it right next time.

Finally the G1

🤭 oh yeah i forgot tmobiles 3g coverage does not even cover a quarter of the U.S; on top of that... you spend that much on a phone that just like the iphone requires higher data speeds and a much more advanced network; then you have tmobile just releasing that they are gonna restrict you to only up to 1gb of data usage a month.... hmmmmm good luck using that phone to its full capability; oh yeah and did i forget to mention the instinct is on a much more advanced network, with great coverage, much more advanced features.... and with sprint headed into 4g its about time tmobile caught up with 3g... Hey i got a great question lets say you do buy this phone for the retail price of uhhhh 129.99 with a 2 year contract, wheres the gps navigati...

Install applications *not* through t-mobile app store?

Perhaps the main reason I haven't bought an iPhone is the restrictive policies apple has about application distribution.

If you write an application and I want to install it on my phone, I can't unless you submit it to apple and apple approves it and puts it on their app store. (Or I jailbreak my phone.)

As we have seen, apple has refused to distribute developers' applications when they don't like them, such as when they think they overlap with the built-in applications or when they might subvert Apple's or AT&T's revenue model.

Is the T-Mobile G1 any different? Can I install any application I want on my phone without going through T-Mobile/Google? Or do I have to download the applications from the T-Mobile app store? Is the pho...

how does the g1 compare to the wing?

I couldn't do a comparison of the two, as it is not yet up on phone scoop.
I have a wing and love it, but I can get the upgrade..If it is an upgrade.

WOW HTC uses a screen with more than 64k colours

seriously, it is about time that HTC made a phone with 16 million colours.. in fact, i will purchase the phone soon and count every individual colour because i dont believe those htc bastards, and though i dont like the iphone, at least it was the first major phone with a 24 bit screen!

How many did T-Mo REALLY pre-sell?
