Vaporware?

So is the S730 ever going to make it to the market? I have been reading about this phone for it seems like a year now and so far it does not seem to exist.
HTC lists it on their website as if it is available and not "coming soon" but I have pretty much written it off, as now they are mentioning the S740 too.

has anyone "in the know" ever seen any proof this phone exists?

I know HTC makes good products, but I sort of lose some respect when a company announces a good product but it never seems to materialize.

I really like the form factor of the phone so I was eager to check it out..

If the make it we will buy it...

Another month has passed and no word on the possibility of a US version of this phone being produced any time soon.

If anyone has heard anything please post.

My phone (HTC 3125) is about to fall apart (has worked great for almost 2 years) and I would really like to get an S730 over the Touch or Tilt.

I like this phone, but?

I have been looking at this phone on and off since this past fall, it is nice, it is good and it is too expensive for a smartphone. I see the S730 going for between $500 and $600 on the unlocked market, one can get a Touch Cruise or Kaiser for not a whole lot more, and they are full PPC and TouchFlo.

I can see spending like $450 unlocked. This brings up another question. Yes it seems to be superior to the BJ II, and Q9H, but with the BJ II going for $99 post rebate, and if AT&T decides to pick it up and sell it in the $200 or so range, would it be worth the difference?
