Android 101

Hi all,

First time poster here KraventheRaven.

I'm DONE with iPhones. Just done.

Thinking on changing over to Android OS (the S3 mini is looking very appealing right now) and I just wanted to know if you guys have any pointers or information you feel an Android neophyte like me should know about before taking the leap.

I'm talking about anything and everything you would take the time to sit down and explain to your some-what tech savvy grandmother (with all the patience and tenderness it ensues).

I appreciate all responses (if any).

Hey Kraven, I've been on android now for 3-4 years , upgrading phones as i go, and i love the 4.0 ice cream sandwich os i'm using now but i'm sure the jelly bean system in the mini ( a step up) should satisfy you. although the phone may b slow with a 1 Ghz processor, (my lg optimus regard clocks usually @ 1.5 ๐Ÿ˜• ) all in all I think you'll b quite happy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey Ionnie,

I just checked the KitKat review on here and I have to say it got me thinking... do you think the minis will be KitKat complatible?

I would recommend to start with an entry phone, so you can get acostume to the OS without spending to much dough.
The S3 mini is a good option, tho' I'd recommend the S4 mini, about the same price (at least 'round my area they are about the same range). The S4 seems to have better features for the same price range, so I', sure you'll have a better exp.

Also, I've heard the Moto X is a nice phone... tho' I haven't checked the price for it.

Thanks!

Yeah now that the S4 mini has gone live I'm starting to consider it.

Iร‚ยดve had other people recommend motorola phones as well.

I think an entry phone would work in my case, I want something that works and accessible.

Appreciate the advice!

What about the Moto G?:

It looks perfect as an entry phone. Low price, Android 4.3, good specs, Motorola.

I'd still preffer the S4 mini, but if you're looking for something cheaper I think this one's better. ๐Ÿ˜

LMAO

Nop, I'd go Samsung if I were you. The downside it's the price... if I were on a budget then the Moto would be a good option to consider. Or in your case: testing new ground (OS), it's understandable you don't wanna throw in lotta cash at once.

Personally, I prefer Samsung. I own a Note 3 and I'm in luv with it! ๐Ÿ˜

Great!

Both phones are in my "maybe" list. Price is definitely deal breaker so $179 sounds appealing.

I guess it would all depend on Samsung giving the green to KitKat for the S4 mini and pricing.
