240 milllion POPs. That's potential subscribers. Meaning Cingular's network covers 240 million people living and working within the US, not that they have 240 million actual subscribers.

Every company advertises POPs, and there's no lying involved. That is what you would call illegal.

they obviously dont have 240 million subscribers lol.. 240 million is Covered POPS.

POPS= persons of population (POPs) within their reach. potential customers.

T-mobile is the second largest company in the world. next to Vodafone. Trust me...T-Mobile has plenty of size and money to do what it wants...you watch...Verizon is screwed for not having a GSM system...they cant run analog forever...and if cingular doesnt get there stuff together and start trying to keep customers (verizon too) they are gonna be at the bottom before they know it...

T-mobile doesnt lead against Sprint/nextel. i dont think they even lead sprint/nextel in prepaid and that is their strong suit. (t-mobile's i mean)

sprint leads in; 1. arpu; 2. data arpu. 3. total subscribers on the network. 4. net adds per year and quarter.

Even so, Tmobile still passed them and now are the 3rd wireless carrier in the US. (behind VZW)

The ranking system is based on total # of subscribers on that company just like even to be listed you haft to have a minimum of 1 million customers. So apparently T-Mobile now has more than sprint/nextell do just like when cingular merged with AT&T it got more customers than verizon and took #1 and has had it ever since. Its based purly on the #'s

i guess that is true..

but that isnt true that tmobile has more subscribers then sprint/nextel. maybe individually like tmobile against spritn or tmobile against nextel, but not combined.

i'm guessing phonescoops places the carriers icons in order from customer count highest to lowest. t-mobile was 4th now they are 3rd. i guess their customer count is now higherthan that of sprint.

lol.. thats funny.

so they think 20 million is more then 45 million? hmm.
...
sprextel

Mar 3, 2006, 3:00 PM
Actually 47.6 million. I think the way phonesccop is ranking them is by listing Sprint and Nextel as separate entities with subscriber numbers separated by CDMA and IDEN

This is exactly how it should be too!

Sprint and Nextel are still too different carriers

I think of it this way : Sprint just owns the rights to Nextel until they want to shut down the consumer iDen network!

So they should be listed as separate and therefore t-mobile has more subscribers.

Another example: I don't think Cingular, after purchasing ATT Wireless, ever said " Cingular Wireless together with ATT Wireless" They became the same company!

Tmobile is actually rated the 2nd wireless company right behind Sprint/nextel... based on total gross revenue
