I'd suggest reading your insurance policy carefully.

I pointed out some issues regarding the policy for Asurion/Lockline I felt relevant. Please note the policies may have changed or been updated somewhat since my original post.

I'm not even sure if they do insurance for Verizon.

captainplooky: Warranty Exchanges and Asurion Ins. are two different things! DJSCREAM is not using Asurion to get a different phone! T-mob.is the one who is offering an alternative!

There are two ways to possibly get a different phone.

1) if you have insurance you can pay for a new phone, sometimes the insurance company will replace it with a phone of equal value and similar features. but you still have to pay the insurance deductible.

2) T-Mobile does offer an " alternate exchange " on phones , but to qualify for it you have to have done 2 or 3 exchanges on your phone for the same issue in the last 90 days , and even then the models that qualify and what the replacement model will be are based on what the warehouse is overstocked on. ( about a year ago I had a SDA that worked just fine but I knew the alternate exchange was for the DASH so I just called in with a fake issue that gets a in warranty exchange like t...

I'm workin on my 4th SDA and wanting desperatley to get a different phone. Last time I called, they offered me a Dash and then came back on the line and said that the offer was no longer valid. I dig the SDA but I've had about 3 too many problems with it to keep getting replacements. One cool thing I learned in the process though is that Welcome Guide states that I don't have to pay for shipping whenever they send me a replacement handset!

Any suggestions on what I can do to get into a new phone?

The alternate exchange program is only available based on what the warehouse has in stock. At the time I replaced my SDA with a DASH the warehouse had a surplus of DASH phones.

Not every model of phone has an alternate exchange offered.

And sometimes the replacement is not an upgrade, you could have a DASH and be offered an SDA as an exchange.

There is no real way to tell what is going to be available when you call in. All you can do is ask what they can offer you and if you dont like it then call back in a few weeks and see if the offer has changed.

If you say you want to cancel they may offer you better prices on buying a new phone from the upgrade program. But you would have to extend your contract and would still have to pay for an upgrade.
