If you don't understand what this says....it says that you can use an mp3 editing software to changed the file size to 300k worth of the song and it will play it. Lets face it. Does your phone ring for an entire song anyways?
But then again if you had bought from a Cingular store we could have answered that question beforehand.
Is the W300 even insurable?
The W300i was not designed with the ability to make ringtones out of the phone's stored music, different memory set. It does however have bluetooth file transfer and you could make your own customer ringtones for free on your own computer.
Oh, and you don't have to take the rebate if you don't want it. It is IN ADDITION to the 2 year discount. Yeah, it is a rebate, but if you don't want to spend 5 minutes to get the extra money I guess that is your prerogative.
And where exactly did you buy your phone anyways? Online, Best Buy? Cingular retail stores, at least in the Central Region, are not carrying that phone. Billing problems when you buy online or national retail, my gosh who ever heard of such a thing.
Why did you not buy your own version then?
Sounds fishy to me.

Go to docs&tools then miscellaneous.. you will see a download called DRM Packager. When you run it you can add an mp3 you wish to use it will create a drm-ed copy of the file which you can drag into your ringtones folder on the phone and that should work for you..
Hope this helps!
