Upgrade at 20 months was never a contract condition, therefore its not an ETF waiver. Also, the change is not immediate and not the same for all customers. Basically, if you have an upgrade coming in the next few months (based on 20 months) you'll get it, but if your upgrade date is coming sometime this fall then you'll move to the 24-month schedule. If you think about it, you could see this coming, after all, the carriers have no new business to bring in, just the petty little battles trying to get folks to switch over, and by using subsidized phones they've basically been hemmorhaging money. Tightening up on phones is a way of reducing costs. It started with T-Mobile abandoning subsidized phones & contracts in favor of no-contract & finance your phone. Verizon is simply modifying its phone offer guidelines.
