Working at verizon must be one of the easiest jobs on the planet and yet they can't even manage to learn the one simple UI that they offer. I have witnessed time and time again retarded reps giving out incorrect information or fumbling around trying to find a simple function on the most basic of phones, which lets face it is all of them. Its hard to stomach watching some pimple face retard answer no to a question that clearly deserves a yes answer, then watching that potential customer walk because of it. I think verizon should do a poll of how many customer they loose each quarter do to incompetence! I suggest in the future they implement some basic quizzes before they allow these slobs to hit the sales floor.
How do you power up a cell...

Personally I'm not going to say you are stupid or intelligent since I don't know you, but they way you speak and the way you write messages here might make others think you are stupid, uneducated, etc.
...
Well I don't know about that, but it certainly makes it painful to read. On the other hand, perhaps he just doesn't want to waste any brain power in a forum renowned for the posters' precise statements and thoughtful objectivity...

Well tonight I was in there to show my sister which phone I suggest she upgrade to, the store is very busy and I overheard 3 separate conversations where misinformation was given. My wifes work is right next to a verizon store and I'm a phone junkie so I go in from time to time, and over the period of six months have encountered numerous erroneous errors from clueless reps.

ok, i was just curious

OK, what an uneducated thread to even start Wookiee...so let me get this straight, this can only happen at a Verizon Wireless Store? ever been in a Cingular or Sprint/Nextel store...im sure this never happens elsewhere. There are uneducated people in any profession in life, but to go on here and bash Verizon Wireless employees is just plain stupid. With all your knowledge why dont you get a job in the cellphone business and help out these folks who are so misinformed. Until then please stay out of our stores since you are obviously smarter than any of the reps and have no need to be there.
"Im here to get my free phone and accessories"

Actually the Verizon one in Conroe, Texas is exactly how Wookiee described his little encounters.
...
So is the one in Santa Clarita, CA
...
and the one on 86th st in NYC
...
Those are the associate that are there only for the paycheck, and don't care about the service.

this thread solved nothing lol...just one bitch complaining

Good for you. You should have walked right over and corrected them, grabbed their nametag, slapped it on your forehead and proceeded to take the sale from them since you are so damn good. You probably go home and rub one out thinking about how you know so much about Verizon Wireless. I'll bet your wife loves you to de...

Well, in my experience, I'd have to say the reps on here know what they are talking about and would be the good ones to talk to at a store because they are actually interested in cell phones, how they work, etc. etc. etc. and therefore are in the business. But then you'll get people who work for Verizon for just a "job" and don't care about educating themselves about the products/services and don't know jack when you ask them a question. I've run into these people time and time again and it's frustrating as hell! I end up telling them what they need to do and I'm not or never have been a rep!
So I say, to the reps on here who know their stuff and educate themselves on all aspects of their job-THANK YOU! and for those who take it as ...

Yep I never ran into a rep that knew anything about cell phones, I'm sure they exist but the runs I have dealt with are arrogant jackasses. When I go into the store which I try to avoid at all cost, I just tell those monkeys what I want and try to have as little interaction with them as possible.

id like to know specifics of the wrong answers that were given. you never know who might be able to benefit from this information...Yes i can turn on the phone and know how to add contacts and know how to turn on the bluetooth. Im just asking..you know curiosity.

I do think there are people who are their just for the $$$ but you can find it anywhere car dealers, clothing stores, etc. You shouldnβt pass judgment on one group of people because of a few bad apples. Thatβs just being ignorant.

Well, I ran into another today. Placed an order yesterday morning, paid for Priority Overnight, so it should have arrived today by 3p.m. When it didn't I called to get tracking number to find out why it hadn't come. The rep said they don't have overnight, they have standard, which is about a week for $9.99 and Priority, which is 3 days and cost $12.99. I explained to him that they have two different overnight rates. The $12.99 is to have it by 3p.m. and then there's a slightly higher one that is guaranteed by 10a.m. He again insisted they DO NOT have overnight shipping. I just hung up on him and called back and got the info I needed. I feel sorry for the customers who don't know better and get screwed all the time due to uneducated ...

Another 9900 for one of our other lines.

what's kinda of funny is that not all verizon phones have the standard UI, and the verizon phones that do have the ui also have differences like try changing your ringtone on a razr vs. a lg 8300, very different. just one example. Phones without UI, Moto w315/vx 3400/ Q/ blackberry/etc...
...
you cant judge us by a few expierences...there are a lot of crazy verizon customers in this world, does that mean that EVERY customer is crazy!?!?
...
No, it means they are all stupid.
Me: "Alright, turn the phone back on and dial *228 then press send"
Cust:"Nothing happens when I press a button"
Me: "You're sure the phone is on?"
Cust:"Yes"
Me: "Ok, try it one more time, * 2 2 8"
Cust:"Nope, nothing happens when I press a button"
Me: "And you're sure the phone is on?"
Cust:"YES. I already told you twice, the phone is on. I have it plugged in and the screen says Battery Charging."
Me: "Ok......You're going to need to go to the store for some hands on help, let me find you a store..."
If you can't tell the difference between on and off, you need to donate your cell phone to poor phone nerds and get a landline.

I do not believe it takes a great amount of intelligence to sell a phone. I am actually of the opinion that smart people do not make good sales people. The average consumer does not enjoy being talked down to. Throughout the sales process reps are taught to ask open questions to get the customer to do the talking. If I were a manager, I really would not want my rep doing all the talking. Now, Verizon actually employs customer service reps and technicians in their stores, who theoretically should know more than the sales reps. Even these individuals are not going to know everything about every phone. They are provided with the tools to find the answers however. If a sales rep or customer service rep is asked a question he does not k...

lol and no i am not a sales rep as it seems you are pointing this towards. but yes sales reps need more training at times

Sales men know selling points. They aren't nesscesarilly experts on what they are selling.
If you want to know a specific detail about your car, do you ask the sales man or the mechanic? If what you are asking isn't on the sales sheet and he doesn't have personal experience, the salesman isn't going to know it.

no, society is stupid. Vzw employees are just the norm for your area. If you live in a city with a lot of idiots, well they have to find jobs as well π³ . Every company hires bad apples, eventually some will learn and others will be flushed out just to be replaced with someone that might even be less intelligent. I have shopped a lot of stores and have had some good experiences and some bad ones. What happens is one idiot thinks he knows what he is talking about and as new employees are added they listen to this so called seasoned rep and they learn wrong things as well. this job is what you make of it, as is any position out in the real world. My suggestion is to find a good rep and stick with them. I have had customers drive 50 miles past ...
