No getting out of your contract because of TXTs going up

verizonjoey

Jan 18, 2007, 11:59 PM
My contract expires on 2/2008. I tried to terminate my contract today w/o a ETF and I was unable to. They advised me that TXT is an added feature that I do not have to have on my acct and I can cancel at any time. However, they did offer me the upgraded 2 year price on any phone I want to upgrade to if I am interested. However my gf has Sprint and my best friend has Verizon, as well as my family so Im stuck between a rock and a hard place. Plus BLUE TOOTH on Verizon sucks because you can not transfer files...and I'm a cheap bastard who does not want to pay anything for ring tones/songs.

This is the same line that Cingular was giving its customers when it upped the txt plan. And the window that Sprint gave its customers when it uppped the txt plan was so small that by the time you realizes the txt chages went up, it was too late.

Just grin & bear it, I'm sure t-mob isnt far behind in this.

what about for people who dont want to sign up for a text plan.....and just like being able to pay for 1 txt message at a time....

I usually send/rec about 30 txt messages a month....so thats about $3.00 w/ the pay as you go plan....with the rate hike that will happen shortly in the next few months...no question what the price will become without being on a txt messaging planπŸ™‚

its not a part of your contract features can be added or removed at any time without a provider charging you for breaking the contract ! so why would a provider let you out of a contract for charging more for a service that you dont have to use to get the service that your paying for ?

first of all....Verizon Wireless blocks blue tooth file transfer on all phones expect for their PDA style phones. And I dont want to get a PDA/Smart phone.

Cingular allows you to transfer ring tones quite easily from phone to phone if you have Blue tooth.

I see trying to help you is rather pointless Joey, is zapping ring tones from phone to phone your priority? if so then yes you can't do that with a verizon phone, in your original post you stated you don't like paying for ring tones we can help you there. What is your major boggle here man?

well...my major issue is with Blue tooth and Verizon. I recently got a blue tooth ear piece to use with my phone. I have realized that the only thing you can do with Blue tooth and Verizon is use it as a hands free speaker.....but yes my main interest in transfering tones via blue tooth and you cant do that with verizon.

you cant even buy a data cable at a corp. verizon store so I can transfer the tones from my computer to my verizon e815 phone.....

dude the E815 is the last phone with no commie UI, and you can seem edit the hell out of it and even enable obex! you can get a data cable on ebay for five bucks and do that, www.howardforum.com has step by step directions and I will be happy to find them for you. But if you are not into all that hacking junk then once again you're correct about verizon and their communist blocking ways...now see what you did now I'm all fired up! 🀣 believe me I feel your pain and it pisses me off too, its just in my area verizon is the only worthwhile carrier to have....

Yeah - I know..
It's just when Cingular did the same thing the Verizon slappies went crazy in the Cingular forum talking about lawyers and how they have to let you out. Even though they knew they were wrong, they wouldn't let it rest and endlessly debated similair verbage in the Cingular TOS. Now those same slappies are no where to be found.... interesting.

Actually it is the largest package I have seen. I don't think there is a way to have a larger package then what you have. In fact, mine is half the package yours is. But, VZW isn't touching my package either. They have said they will leave it alone. The only ones that are getting touched are those without packages. The "per use" rate is going up. Anything done in excess of your package will still be billed at the normal 10 cents each...

In fact, you can get out of any contract where the terms are arbitrarily changed by the maker of the contract, after the date the contract is signed. Its just a matter of how hard you want to push it. The reps are probably told to say NO, but they don't know contract law. Verizon knows contract law and their own attorneys have certainly told the executives the law. It is even clearly stated in their contract that if they change the contract in a way that adversely affects their customers, that the customers are free to cancel the contract. What adversely affects a customer is not Verizons place to decide, it is the customers. Even a $1 a year increase, or a slight change in service can adversely affect the customer.

There is an over-ridi...

people need to go all the way back up to what "The box" said. This post should have ended there. To save you the trouble of having to search for his/her post, he basically said...

Text messages: You can turn it on and you can turn it off anytime. You can call up 3 months into your contract and turn it off and NOT pay an ETF, even though you are under contract. Now why would this be a one way road. If you can turn it off and not be charged an ETF, then that is proof enough that text messaging is NOT part of your contract, other wise verizon would charge you an ETF to shut it off at your request. This is a feature that you choose to have or not have, not a requirement of your service. So, if anyone gets out of contract without ETF, w...
