VZW Signs up Revver
Verizon Wireless
Written by James Ripley
Thursday, 30 November 2006
A day after announcing the YouTube deal VZW signed up with Revver. This deal will allow VZW's V CAST customers to access Revver's content in early December.

"V CAST subscribers will have access to some of the most popular content from a variety of Revver’s video creators chosen from categories on Revver.com, such as Editor’s Picks, Viral Video Classics, Extreme Sports, Laughs, Animation, and Cute Overdose. Revver will provide new video clips each week to V CAST, and content will be refreshed twice a week."

Once again VZW's V CAST customers will be limited to the content chosen by VZW/Revver for your "viewing pleasure".

😳 Dude. Get a life. Seriously. I can't fathom why you would sit on phonescoop ALL DAY LONG and write posts about a carrier you don't have. Loser... 🙄

You do realize that Verizon doesn't even have to offer it in the first place, right? But they do. And since, it's their network and contract with revver.com, then they have the option to decide whether or not they want to limit it. They chose to limit. Or maybe instead of crying every time Verizon does something that you don't like, remind yourself to not take these features for granted. After all, it's just a phone 🙄

As with everything the less you offer they less people will want it. Phones are becoming more and more a need in life. ANd data will become as much as a need as voice is now. Verizon will lose if it keeps it up. Your right its their network but without people which they will lose in the near future with what they do will be nothing but. You have to give people what they want and right now verizon does but as data grows they won't be doing that.

I agree with you halfway on that one. I'm with you 100% when you said data is becoming as much as a need as voice is now. However, I don't see any rhyme or reason to why you need to watch TV on your phone. At that point, it becomes an unnecessary extra. I'm sure someone will jump in with Sprint's full web access on the Blade...Fine. For the most part, you can access almost everything you would need using mobile web 2.0. If you need to access more than that, get a Treo. Problem solved.

I get full internet on all sprint phones I have had. Thats nothing new with sprint. And tv no I don't like it. But I like mobile nfl with highlights. I like to be able to stream music if I want or download a clip. It is nice. And as it isn't a deal breaker if I can't when you compare voice quality their equal, compare rates sprint is better and data sprint is better.(my opinion) What sprint sucks at is marketing. And everyone hates the sprint name as much as ATT! I had them for home phone and hated them. I would rather talk with two tin cans. But their wireless was the only thing I liked about them. Now that is all they are and it should get better!

5GB is more than the average person is ever going to come close to using. Are there people out there who will go over that? Sure there are. But not very many. You have to be in a constant data session for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week to go over 5GB. I see where you're coming from with the 3rd party apps. But streaming video? Why do you need to stream video? Is it a requirement in every day life to watch streaming video on a tiny screen? NO. That's what a TV is for. All I'm saying is that the Treo is a perfect tool for just about every form of data you would need to access in your every day life

I disagree for 45 bucks I don't want to be told what I can or can't do, hell my comcast is only five bucks more and I can do whatever I want. On Power Vision you are free to do anything you want, verizon needs to quit power tripping and allow users to stream, download, or do anything they want.

Plus Power Vision is only 25 bucks!

You all should be outraged about this You Tube crap

in verizons defense they can't let people download what they want. They don't have the spectrum! Their network is almost at capacity with the caps!

That doesn't mean they are not in the process of increasing it. They are not stupid and they see were wireless is going. They are the richest Wireless company except for maybe T-Mobile. It just can they do it in time! And will the money they are spending on their FIOS take away from it!

But that doesn't mean they will allow you to download third party apps or that they won't restrict you in some other crazy verizon way, will it?

I just like Sprint for their killer phones

I have sprint and I know you didn't just say killer phones!! And they may not allow 3rd party apps but more then likely will offer unlimited unrestricted net access. They will be forced to do as the industry goes more to data!

You don't like their phone? I like the Fusic and think it puts to shame anything in verizons current line up. I'm also very excited to see what Rev A phones are coming down the pipe, and on top of the when Qchat hits in 08 Motorola will make some killer Qchat phones.

Honeslty I think verizon will acquire sprint within 5 years! Unless they buy out their partners share then the FCC would never allow it unless they give up their local service and other things!

I doubt it, Verizon Wireless wants customers that are postpaid/good credit score with high ARPU that cause less cost per a user. Sprint has a relax credit check/security deposit program for the postpaid and their assest, for the moment, is their prepaid customers. So unless Sprint/Nextel gets to the point of being bankrupt. I doubt we will see Verizon buying them out. I think Alltel or US Cellular would have a better chance of being bought 1st.

Censorship and our freedom of speech is to protect us from the government. Private entities can control their content, whether it be message boards, tv, radio, etc. As long as the government isn't involved. If you don't like what said entity is censored then you can choose another entity or move for change within that entity. Freedom of speech is to protect us from our government. This country has gotten a little ridiculous on what freedom of speech refers to.

As a followup, why isn't everyone pissed at YouTube? They somewhat control what's allowed on their network. 'Indecent' material isn't allowed on YouTube. Did anyone stop and consider that maybe Verizon is limiting the AMOUNT of videos available and not necessarily the content?

This is content is choosen by the provider. Not the same as having access to the direct web site.

Case in point:
http://www2.sprint.com/mr/news_dtl.do?id=13280 »

TV-14 Scarface among others, available for your viewing pleasure.

Show me a provider that doesn't Walmart Wash their media.
