Rip off!!!!!!!!!!

Had to take my 8300 into the store for the powerdown issue, this was my third time and apparently when they give you a FRU you keep the same original battery. I bought this phone 5 months ago and instead of giving me another FRU she say it must be the battery if it keeps powering down with the same issue. I said fine she gave me half off a forty dollar battery.

I asked her what happens when my phone powers down again, I'm I going to have to come back and wait in line for another half hour only to be given a FRU unit at that point, she said yes but we will refund your battery money.

RIFF OFF VERIZON, a battery only last five months give me break

battery should have been covered under warranty since it has a 1 year warranty on battery. you shouldnt have had to pay anything on battery.

100% wrong! I swear no one reads anything they receive with their phones or service packs. The warranty on the battery is a prorated warranty, a brand new battery would only be given within the first 60 days! After that is a % discount based on months up to 12 moths. And I guess its safe to assume that most not aware the average life expectancy of the battery is only 9 months! Most even less than that b/c of charging abuse!

I thought the average LIon battery had a life expectancy of roughly 250 charge discharge cycles. If your battery were to only last 9 months then you would have to be fully charging and discharging your phone 2-3 times a day. If you are only charging your phone once every other day then your battery should last you up to 24 months. A nickly hydrate battery may be another issue but not many phones carry nickle any more.

What are you talking about!?!?!??! Should have checked your math before posting?! The **Avg** life expectancy is 9 months, we will just round off a month as 30 days, soooooo charging once a day for 9 months equals 270 charges/days!

Agreed my math was off. If you charge your phone once every other day then you should get a total of about 500 days out of a single L-Ion battery. This would correlate to a total of approximately 16 months. Of course using a device with a longer talk time would prolong this life as you would only be charging you phone once every three or more days. This would exclude all pdas or high data use phones as this uses more than accustomed battery life causeing one to charge more frequently such as every day. In this case i would agree with your 9 month approximation.

Verizon doesn't warranty the battery, LG does. Also, batteries for the most part last more than 5 months if you take care of them. You need to let the battery discharge nearly 100% to dead before you FULLY charge it up again. Do not use your car charger as your main charger, only for a quick charge. If you eliminate a car charger as a charging option, this will prolong the life of your battery as well.

Don't let your battery go all the way dead though. Get it close but don't go all the way too many times. Also, every time you plug in a charger you are reducing the life of your battery so don't charge excessively.

It was a random problem but so far it hasn't done it again, normally the battery was 40 bucks but just like one guy said she said it was prorated depending on length of time, still twenty bucks for a battery that is only five months old seems a bit ridiculous.

Did you actually think about this one at all? You are blaming Verizon b/c of warranty policy that is dictated by the MANUFACTURE OF THE PHONE! NOT the company that simply provides the service to the phone! LG sets what is and what is not going to happen, and how long or short that is for! Technically speaking any service provider could simply tell you the phone number and/or how to get intouch with the manufacture for warranty or replacement issues!

let's face it....all cell phone companies are ripping us off but since we pay the money its our fault. i hate the way i am treated at the store (both sprint AND verizon). Stores can and do help you, unfortunately it seems that since it is not 100% the answer or result you wanted or would only settle for you are labeling it as no help or not good enough! I'm sure you are going to take this next part the wrong way or have some comment about it, but think about before you do. Verizon Wireless is your wireless service provider and has stores equipped with reps to assist with your equipment issues. What these reps can or can not do is strictly set by the manufactures of your phones!!! If something is wrong with the phone there are two options, exchanged for another right then and there under their warranty policy or you could go through the manufacture themselves directly if do not like that! And if you look over ...

YET AGAIN, the manufacture decides that, NOT the service provider! And regardless of who the service provider is you are getting a FRU! Why? B/c that's what the manufacture sets for their warranty, regardless of it being Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile etc. they all follow it! All the same b/c the manufacture is the same! So after making an ass if yourself in public, I mean making a scene and going to another provider guess what you would have accomplished......NOTHING b/c its the same with them!

I am curious though to hear this one though. If you bring in a 9 month old phone (or regardless of how many months old) why do you expect to get a brand new one? If you had yours for 9 months and that's what you are giving back to manufacture, why shou...

i see your point but i think its the attitude i get from the reps....i actually pay full retail if i see a new phone i really want like the KRZR....but i have always had bad experiences with the reps at verizon and sprint....maybe because they are people who think their true calling in life is to sell phones...who knows...i guesss i would have an attitude too if i had a job like that

I will put my two cents in. You have problems at verizon and sprint. That tells me its a problem with maybe you. Sorry but when I talk to poeple and treat them like great people I get treated like a great person. Never once have I walked into a store and greeted them warmly have a gotton an attitude from them. Even when I tried verizon out for a couple of days and found out it wasn't for me and went to return it to the store. I walked in and treated him with respect. He appoligized for me that I had no service and that there are alot of dead spots and he will be glad to refund me fully. It like my cousin in law said to me one time as he is a cop. 95% of the time the first statement someone makes to me determines if they get a ticket or not...

AMEN! As a cell phone sales rep, I can say this is 100% true. If you are a customer that's easy to work with, I'll go the extra mile. If you have a nasty attitude, my goal is finding the quickest way to get you done and out of the store.

And when I get pulled over the first thing I say is hello. I've gotten 6 warnings so far in my lifetime and no tickets on my record now. =D

Strange, my V lasts for a good 2, sometimes 3 days under normal use. I average about 1800 minutes per month and about 2100 texts per month.

Of course, reading all of these comments back and forth.. well, I'm holding my tongue. The UI was implemented because Verizon's **customers** (ie. you, me, etc.) complained that switching between various manufacturer's UIs was confusing. Verizon then proceeded to develop a standardized UI, and passed the specifications to the programmers/engineers at the manufacturers to produce.

LG is then left with the task of ensuring that their hardware interacts properly with the software after being given the restrictions from Verizon **in an effort to appease complains from customers.**

Just because th...

I dont get why this is a rip off.. they gave you half off and if that doesnt fix your problem then you get your money back.

what do you want them to do?? they dont make the phone clearly they are trying to help solve your issue by swapping the phone out multiple times and giving you half off a brand new battery.

the phone has a 1 year warranty, the battery only has a limited warranty tho.

If it dies within 3 months you get a new battery for free
if it dies within 3-6 months you get half off
6-12 months is like 25% off.
