VZW likes LG phones...but LG sucks

HowdyDoody

Why does VZW promote LG so much. Their reps love LG's all the time. Are VZW reps brainwashed??? Dont they know Moto and Nokia are the best brands???

Well, I as a consumer and a rep, never went with Motorola until recently.. Prior, you couldn't pay me to own one... But that being said, from my own experience, ie (consumer and rep) I have learned it is not that a particular manufactuer is good or bad but some phones that are put out may be!.. Anyway, just my little 2 cents, LG is a major "producer of products" of which I think some turn out good and well some don't.. I have had a total of 3 phones in 5 yrs, one was a really old Audiovax, worked great, battery finally died. The next was an LG 4400 same thing as before, have had a Moto V325 for 10 months, so far so good! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

When I had my LG phones compared to motorola (that didn't have the new UI) my phone didn't last a day in battery life. One day a couple of weeks back in October, I made two phone calls and by 4pm my phone was down to its last notch on batt life. My phone calls were five minutes each. It sucks batt pretty quick, atleast the LG phones I have had.

Are you serious? UI has nothing to do with battery. IIRC you said you had reception issues, that will drag a battery down in a heartbeat. The phone keeps trying to access the network and will run down in a matter of hours. Again class, UI has nothing to do with sucking a battery dry. I've had two LG phones with the new UI, no problem. I left VZW because the lied to me about LG phones being the best in reception even after I confronted them about my reception issues on the VX8100. When I tried to purhcase the e815 outright they said there would be a $15 ESN change charge even if I did it myself online... another untruth ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

This was the corporate store in Fairfax, VA btw.

reception depends on where you are, my wife has an 815(supposed to be the one of the best for reception) well she drops calls out at my house and my chocolate does not. Now on a grand scale I would agree that motos may pick up a little better in most areas, but I swear they freaking lie about the signal meter, every moto I have had at my house (720,730.710,815,razr) all say 1-2 bars but drop calls, but my lg says 0-1 and none of them ever drop calls at my house? On the rep side the reason they push lg is very simple, they have far less issues! Now aside from the lg3200 battery issues most lg's are very solid where all the mid to low end motos in the past have been pure garbage, the 325 is much better and the razr v3m seems to be pretty solid...

๐Ÿคฃ If we are so "brainwashed" why do the majority of reps carry LG for their personal phone? Reps sell what they believe to be the best equipment with the fewest issues. There is absolutely no reason for us to sell a product, or "push" a product that we know has issues and the fact of the matter is that LG has the fewest issues (Consumer Reports and other consumer rating systems have also supported this, not just "brainwashed reps). Glad you are happy with your Moto....we will see how long that really lasts. ๐Ÿ™„

I've had both LG and Motorola over the years before switching to a smart phone. I found that I liked Motorola phones back then more that I do now as it seems to be their quality has come down some but they still kick out some really good phones.

The LG phones that I have used in particular the VX-8000 I found to be a very solid phone with great reception and battery life for me. I didn't have any real problems with the phone and the Verizon UI worked well for me. I found that phone to have the best camera as far as camera phones that I have owned. I think that LG has come a long way and now competes head to head with Motorola as far a style, fashion and reliability goes with phones. When referring phones I tend to listen to a users need...

๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ actually, our company was given a sizable perk as an incentive to sell more Moto and everyone laughed. We still do not promote their phones. If I got paid more top sell LG, I would have retired at 25 years old. That was lame to assume. Yes, ASSUME. Get your facts straight.

Yaahh, about that. If that was a prediction then Miss Cleo really was telling the truth.

The reality is, personal biases towards phones not withstanding, that you sell the more consistent phones. I will present 4 or 5 LG models for every Motorola or Samsung I have.
Why? Performance, price, and less hassle.

Some of the more recent Samsung offerings are resonable, I'm thinking of the 930 in this case, but otherwise they were either vastly overpriced (think the 970 and 990) or just plain lousy (the 500 and 600 series).

Nokia's are usually strong on signal and easy to use, but aren't something we carry a lot of here at our store. Unless the customer gravitates towards that phone or requests it specifically, it doesn't get a l...

The problems that we see in Motorola are mostly software issues. Screens fade or turn brown within the first 3 months or so, keypads stop working, they tend to drop an excess amount of calls, and the Moto 710 I used to carry would freeze when I scrolled through my contacts then do a total power cycle on its own. When the power would come back up I would have no service until I removed the battery to reboot it. I also see numerous Moto's being sent in for warranty repair with no apparent physical damage and Moto will return it unrepaired with a reason of liquid damage. On the few LG phones we have sent in, even with physical damage (customer admitted) LG will almost always send a replacement phone back to the customer at no charge. So in a nu...

LG phones are nice looking and have a great user interface but they fail at the most important function of a phone: actually making phone calls. Motorola and Nokia are clearly superior in actually connecting and completing calls. Those of you with the LG love affair must enjoy using phones to play games or something like that, since they are horrible at making calls. LG phones are made for kids, not adults.

So we hear VZDub reps don't get paid on phones. Reps might get chargebacks like every other sales position though. Employees are consumers before they are employees. 9 of 10 VZDub call center reps have LG's, the rest are scattered manufacturers. Do you think they get better pricing on LG phones than other manufacturers? Their family members have LGs. They recommend to their customers what works for them, their friends, and their families. Yea, there are a few bad LGs in the mix, but that is the case with every electronic product.

BINGO.

I am in sales for VZW. A good sales person (myself) ๐Ÿ˜‰ , will recommend the phone with the best qualities over the best price. Resulting in higher customer satisfaction, resulting in more referrals, resulting in less chargebacks and churn due to dissatisfaction, and increasing retained commision.

Really simple when you think about it.

We are not paid on the phone we sell, its all about the plans and features.

I will upsell a higher end phone in hopes of getting a customer to utilize services (features) if they seem inclined/intersted though

I steer people away from garbage like the LG 3300, PN215, CDM8945 and sammy A870.
