After having my 2 last phones be a piece of sh!t....and having verizon tell me they would upgrade them a month early, and then tell me I have to pay the 1 year renewal (considering I want the 2 year contract) đŸ˜ŗ , for I don't know what reason.

After 10 years of being a loyal customer, I have decided to switch carriers. Any suggestions on who to switch to?

i had Cingular and one of the biggest reasons i switched to Verizon was custom care and billing problems. T-mobile is good if they provide good PCS and data service in your area.

thanks for the input...I am really sorry to have to leave Verizon after so many years, but the customer service is just rediculous....I know call quality is more important, but the last 2 phones have been awful and they don't offer me any way to fix it, and when they do, they give me a new story everytime I call.

No offense, fspilot1971, but what exactly did you want the rep you spoke with to do?? 2 dropped calls, and your point? Are you aware the signal travels thru airwaves and complaining about a few dropped calls is somewhat, what?? It is a cell phone! Hello, it is not a lifeline, so if you are attempting to assume it is, you may want to reconsider.. And no offense to T-Mobile, but if you think 2 dropped calls are excessive, I would not choose T-Mobile, they have great Rep's but you just might be complaining about 100 dropped call! So, that being said, cell phones can and will have issues, do alittle research as to how a call is actually connected.. then decide what importantance a few dropped calls in the BIG overall picture of life really mat...

i agree with some of what you said but you need to be aware that verizon givs BS info about their phones. every verizon sales rep i spoke with told me that OFFICIALY all verizon phones have the same reception quality. the difference is only in features. UNOFFICIALY, each phone is different and you need to try different ones to see wich works best in your area. maybe thats the issue with fspilot1971, he needs to try other phones to see if they work better. you should get a 15 day trial period per phone with 100% money back.

What do you expect to get from this conversation. You are asking verizon employees and customers in the verizon wireless forum what carrier you should switch to. 👀 duh this would be better suited in the general forum where an unbiased decision could be given. also sine the post is already here what phones did you have that are such horrible phones?

yes becuse customer service is the wireless industry's strongpoint 🙄 I hate to be the a downer but don't expect stellar custoemr service no matter what company you switch to. As far as letting you upgrade early that seems like they are trying to work with you, you are the one not meeting them in the middle here. It is not verizon's fault you decided to do a ywo year, it is not their fault that you didn't get any sort of extended waranty to cover your equipment and it is not there fault you cheaped out and bought a motorola v265. I suggest you check this forum before buying your next phone đŸ¤Ŗ Good luck to you but all carriers kiss your ass when you are coming to start new service but ass kissing stops after that contract is signed :...

No...I am up for a normal upgrade on 10/1/06.....they were going to work with me, but then I called them to upgrade and the story changed. The Nokia is a good phone, but the hindge is broken and it drops calls.

I don't mind paying more, but when I bought the Nokia I went in the store and asked them for a good "talking" phone....I have an Ipod and digital camera, don't need that stuff.....they couldn't tell me 🙄

At this point I think I am just better off waiting 4 weeks to upgrade, I think most of Verizon's customer service problems stem from too many people at customer service, who don't know the policies right. ☚ī¸

First off, I'd like to apologize for some of the smart-a$$ remarks that have been posted towards your very real problem. It's true you have just chosen two very "cheap" phones. The motorola V265 has ruined more lives in my opinion than the Audiovox 8910 (and anyone in the company knows about the horrors of the 8910). It was soo bad that Motorola had to re-release an updated version the V276. Nokia just doesn't seem to be as good as they once were, especially now since Pantech is making there phones for Verizon. If you decide to stay with Verizon, I would recommend trying the LG VX8300... or dare I say it... The RAZR. And as I'm sure people will blast this post regarding the RAZR, I live in the Northeast area and have had 2 RAZRS which worked...

I agree with insider. some phones suck. that's just how it is. they are cheap for that purpose. so what if a phone has an mp3 player or camera. if it gets better service it gets better service. don't use the mp3 player if you don't want. my advice use your upgrade and get a good phone. it will cost more but you will not have these issues I guarantee it. and yes call in or go to a direct store. and when you go in please don't use I have been a customer for ten years thing. we know when we look at the accont and we truly appreciate that. but when someone uses that sentence it just may cause a flasback of certain people who think they should get everything free and they will tighten up. just be nice explain the situation and they will take care...

I never mention the fact about the 10 years, and I have never gotten or expect a freebie in life whatsoever, I have always paid my way. I have always been nice to them, even when they haven't been nice to me 🙂.

I have always stayed under the $100 price range because I have always had luck with that, and honestly I always, up until now, thought all verizon phones were good.

ok...enough about that, I just got off the phone with customer care, they said I will save $200 on both phones if I wait until 10/1 to upgrade. I figure since I have lived with bad phones for 2 years, what's another month? 🙂......ok....opinions, what phone?, all I care about is reception and BT.

good you see the light..... now a good phone with BT is hands down the lg-vx8300. it will be costly upfront but after your rebates it will only cost you 69.99 for two phones( but that is with the ne2) other then the 8300 the lg-vx8500 is a good choice and i'm going to hate saying this but the samsung 950 if you can find one.

You are extremely lucky then. At least in my district the 8910 is something you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy. We at one point at 40 8910 fru's (warranty replacements) in our tech deparment, and we are not a huge store. We normally stock 4-8 of any given phone.

But the same people who made your phones that are "pieces of ****" for Verizon make phones for cingular/tmobile/sprint. and when the phones decide to be peiced of **** with them you will be stuck with worse customer service and a less lucrative upgrade policy.

Verizon Wireless has the best upgrade policy in the industry bar none so your best bet would be to stay with VZW, I understand that you are upset and want to cancel to prove your point but you wont find better elsewhere to be totally honest.

I however wish you the best of luck.

Thats good, If you have been a customer for 10 years then We definantly would hate to see you go elsewhere. I cant speak for every rep but when I say I appreciate someones business I truely do, and the incentives/benefits VZW offers to its employees make them genuinly care if someone cancels service because it hurts us all.

I am sure that the people you have spoken to have tried to do everything possible to accomodate you, and I hope you have better luck with your next phone.

If you want a reccomendation, I would say get the MOTO V325 or the LG VX8300. both are excellent.

Check out T-Mobile's street-level coverage on their website .. it gives you detailed info about the quality of coverage at the street level... T-Mobile also has pretty good rate plans and great customer care (#1 in Cust Care 3 years running)

You will be losing out on EV-DO, 3G services and overall better coverage (IMO) but check out the coverage in your area to see if it will work for you... It doesnt seem like you care too much for 3g services so it might be a good choice...

I often overlook this bored while at home or in spare time. I work for Verizon Wireless Customer Service in the south, dealing with North East Customers...One thing that bugs the heck out of me is this..

Phone is crap, and the consumer blames Verizon Wireless...Needless to say, we do not make a profit off of the phones, so instead of saying your done with Verizon, Verizon sucks etc, rather say I am done with Lg, or Samsung...

When I go to Walmart, and buy a Sony T.v, and it breaks a yr and 2 months later, and I did not purchase a warrnty (cough cough insurance) I do not take it back to Walmart and yell and say this is walmarts fault..I contact Sony, the manufacter and see what my options are from them....

I must say that if you went through 2 phones then the sales representative is no good. If you chekc consumer reports and other of such sort, verizon has the best coverage and customer service. It is the most advanced. Surely, you can not compare verizon to another carrier, that would be comparing Mercedes Benz with a ford. Honestly who does that. I mean it is the only carrier in which has power generators in all new towers and actually is adding them to the old. it has aGPS and it owns all its towers. No other carrier is like that. I must say I wouldn't be surprised if the agents are giving you ****ty phones

To make it clear......the phones I have had problems with have and are still under warranty. I think I personally blame Verizon because, in my opinion, they care more about the cameras and what music videos the phones play then the actual call quality. I am 35 years old, sorry but I don't need cool ring tones and music videos. I want a small, good phone, that can receive calls when I go to the mountains on vacation. If it were up to me I would still have my star tac from 2000. I want to receive my calls without hassle.

In my opinion Verizon customer service hasn't been good....I even asked if they could change the phones for older refurbished ones or returns...they said no, that, to me, is not working or comprising with the custome...

I agree, it's not your job to stay on top of phones, it's definately the sales rep to point you in the right direction. Keep in mind, for future phone purchases, the good signal phones usually aren't the cheapest or most expensive, they are usually right in the middle. They're also not the smallest phones, phones have reached a point where they aren't going to get any smaller, in fact most are getting larger. Finally... all those extra features, while you may not neccessarily be looking for them, most phones will have them, don't shy away from a phone just because it has VCAST, MP3, Video, Email, Microwave, and it's own Starbucks store inside.
And one last thing, the customer service is definately Verizon's fault... but keep in mind, what ...
