Hi I have had a Samsung a670 for about a year now and that thing has caused me not alot of problems...the reception has been good and I have dropped it so many times and it still keeps on ticking, it worked as a phone should.

Anyhow, I am in college and I just got tossed in a pool last night with my cell phone in my pocket and voila now it does not work....go figure! Again I am in college and about a year away from my NE2 and I cannot swing it to pay full retail of almost 250$ to get a new LG 8300.

So my question is do I pick up another Samsung a670 on ebay or is there another phone that is not the new "hit" phone like an LG, Moto or Samsung???????? I would appreciate the advice? also is trimode a necessity? Thank you.

first, I hope to god you took the battery out and HAVE NOT YET put it back in... If this is the case leave the batt out for a week in a nice dry environment, and give it a crack...

I had a phone fell in a sink of water. I took the phone completely apart and used rubbing alcochol to clean all the circuit boards. Then I put the phone on a cookie sheet and put it (without the battery) in the oven at the lowest setting with the door partially open for a couple hours. After I put back together it worked fine.

No I did not take the battery out....I figured that once it was submerged it was toast. So back to my original question also see original post.....anyone have any suggestions for a replacement that I can purchase on Ebay or should I stay with purchasing another Samsung a670?

If you buy a pre-paid phone from Wal-Mart, be sure it doesn't have "pp" after the model number. Those phones are locked for use on pre paid accounts ONLY. We've had customers get told this by CS reps, and we at the indirect locations reap the hell from it.

Here's a twist-
If you know the folks who tossed you in the pool, you might mention to them that they destroyed your cellphone and it's going to cost you $150 to get it replaced, but could they see if they might have an old Verizon phone that they might have to loan you until you qualify for a NE2?
Also, since you are in a new environment, buy the insurance...

Another idea. Go talk to your store, tell them what happened and ask them if there is any chance you could pay them the $50 deductable for a refurbished phone (same one) to help you out? AND agree to add the insurance to your account.
I overheard that being done in my local store. Just a thought. Best of luck!

I'd suggest calling customer service at 800-922-0204 and asking about refurbished options for lost, stolen or damaged phones. Choices might be limited but better than nothing and, I beleive might only come witha $50 price tag (someone correct me if this is wrong).

Ebay is a good option too...

Good luck.

I'd sell my A670 but I keep a spare phone around because I'm retarded and have washed 2 phones in the last coupla years (....stupid pants pockets on dress pants be all loose and I don't notice the phone...gets washed in the laundry)...

Hey, also pull the battery and set the whole deal in the windowsill for a few days. When I washed my A610, it came back and lasted about a year after in the hands of my sister.
