Anyone ever try to drop Verizon's service early?

I am a happy customer of Verizon Wireless for a few years now. Unfortunately, the house I'm moving to north of Boston, Massachusetts gets a very week signal from Verizon (surprisingly). Has anyone ever gotten Verizon to waive the early termination fee for a reason such as this? I heard it can be done, but I'm wondering if they'll give me a hard time.

It never hurts to ask. I had a friend who was with Verizon, and when she moved her phone got no service. She called in, and Verizon verified that they didn't have a tower in the area and let her out of her contract with no penalties. It probably depends. I know no cell phone service will guarantee service inside a building, so if your house is in a good signal area but for whatever reason you don't get good reception inside, you may be stuck. Just call in and explain the situation and see what they can do. One thing I will say about Verizon's reps, they're always willing to help if they can. At least the one's I've dealt with as a customer.

1st thing you should do is file a trouble ticket with tech suppor they can check the area for you. Then you should see if they will give you a discount on a new phone, or Check your software, or PRL list update(*228 option 2). If you are happy with verizon then try these things first, before canceling. Good luck

I also live north of Boston. I had went to a Verizon store over the weekend to inquire about an issue I had with my phone/service. They mentioned they had a "tower down" in my area, so I got the impression that it would not be enough to get out of a contract (not that I wanted to or anything). I also have a couple of friends further north of me, and as far as I know, they have reception.
