Screwed The Pooch

badsky2k

Jul 29, 2004, 2:00 PM
Well it seems that VZW really screwed the pooch today. Radio Shack IS SELLING V710's TODAY in limited quantity through direct retail only!

How in the hell did you guys let a second tier vendor beat you to the draw? I hope that you do know that you have disappointed a great deal of people (both new & current customers).

There is absolutely no excuse for this. I don't want to hear the "party line" about RS buying VZW branded phones from Motorola direct. It is VZW BRANDED equipment and a VZW activation!

Now the rest of us have to wait till Aug 11??? Your sales & marketing "managers" must be smoking their socks to let this happen!

Signed,
A Very Disappointed Customer đŸ‘ŋ

Radio Shack had a pre-arranged agreement with Motorola to sell the phone first. I'm sure you will live if you have to way 11 more days for the phone or you can purchase it through Radio Shack.

I thought that I asked for the real answer, not the corporate line?

Still makes VZW sales & marketing look like the 3 Stooges.

I can wait, but that is not the issue.

Are you going to tell me that RS can buy more V710's than VZW? I don't think so. So... usually (if your purchasing people are worth a damn) the guy that can spend more... gets more! Just ask Wal-Mart!

So, as I said before, VZW screwed the pooch on this one.

My, my, my... Kingfrog, first of all for the record I do NOT work for Verizon. I sell them, but I also sell others so I have no particular allegiance to them. You go on and on about rudeness, arrogance, and name calling on the part of Verizon reps, but when dealing with a personality like yours, who could blame ANYBODY for acting like that. You truly are a disgrace, and you embarrass yourself further with every posting on this forum. It's obvious that you have some sort of chip on your shoulder, and I don't even want to guess at what it is. Regardless, I guarantee that most people who are customers rather than wireless employees and stop by this forum find you just as distasteful as the rest of us. I just have a question Mr. Kingfrog...In all these situations at Verizon stores that you've had an issue in the past with the reps in regards to them being arrogant, etc...how was "your" attitude when you 1st approached a rep and how did you speak to them. Did you start off in a pleasant manner and speaking voice, or were you condesending and sarcastic from the get-go or when you were challanged? If you came into a store with an attitude of "I'm going to challenge these guys/gals...", maybe somebody sensed this and then their attitude changed, or the arrogance came out. Now I'm not saying they were right to react to you in that manner...as a professional, they should and can rise above the situation, but if your going in with an attitude ...

When I first went in I knew nothing except pricing differences. You have to remember I visited with Sprint T Mobile first and had the same general questions. It seems when challenged about pricing differences the rep became agitated. He began to bash GSM and spouted of JD Power and Consumer Reports. He could not sell me on why Verizon was so expensive and became arrogant. I left and tried another. Same attitude. Now I know I wwas done with Verizon but I wanted to then find out if it was company cultural. So after I had visited Cingular Stores and did not find the same 'were the best you'll be sorry attitude" I decided to go with them. I threw them some curve balls but the reaction was always with defense and matter of fact. Much humbler.

The fact of the matter is that Verizon's selling point is its superiority in coverage and customer service. AKA "He began to bash GSM and spouted of JD Power and Consumer Reports" when a respected group like JD Power and Associates rates your service as number 1 in all 12(not sure of exact number) markets it tests, I would think that would be a good selling point. Just like how sprint and t mobile were displaying how their plans are cheap, because that is their draw, Verizon's appeal is coverage and thus doesn't have to compete in price matching. This is how business works, it is obvious you have a bias against Verizon and did not want to hear about its advantages.

As someone who spent 3 years working in RatShack hell and 1 of those years as assistant manager I can tell you that its pretty cool to see RS to get a verizon phone before Verizon does. Usually they don't get it till about 6-8 months after the phone is release, which would hurt sales alot. Get custs coming in going, man! I just saw this groovy phone X at the verizon store but I want to buy it hear, do you got it?" and we'd be like,, We haven't got them auth for us to sale yet, sorry."

I also see it as a good idea for RS to get it first too, being they are the largest distributer of Verizon product with, last I remember, over 7000 locations across the USA. Things are like bugs, they are every where! Though from my understanding that the 3r...

WynneFox... I don't know if you work for VZW or not however, if you do, thank you for the honest answer at the end of the last paragraph of your post. Meeting expectations of a customer is what it IS all about. Not calling them names and then laughing it off as a joke. If you do work for VZW you deserve a raise, if not, then you should be the type of person working for them. Maybe there are just a couple of people here who have no real knowledge passing themselves off as representatives of VZW and these few are hurting the company's image. Oh well, again, thank you.

In my experience VZ Sales are terrible to deal with and are a step down from car salesman. I visited only 5 stores. ok but most customers will stop at one.

The customers that won;t have a problem are those who go in KNOWING already they want Verizon Service. Its Verizon advertising and many happy customers VErizon should thank. Not their Sales Reps. All they do is fill out paperwok and sell phones.

Its the undecided customer who challenges a little bit that will see the irritation and arrogance.

Us no... you, yes! I don't think that after your actions, your company (if you really do work for VZW) would really want you to use "us". Insulting customers is not good business especially since you tried to joke it away. Young man, you have a lot to learn about taking care of customers.

Actually QA monitors like 5 calls a month I take over 100 a day...and all of them are perfect not because I have to i.e. big scary QA, but rather because I love VZW and I want to show my customers the best side of VZW! 😁

Congrats TheVZWMan! By calling a potential customer Beavis you have just made my mind up to go elsewhere for service! You just don't get it! I wish that I could let your manager know how you treat potential customers! The rest of the board will now know!
Well, this board member doesn't give a rat's ass. You're being an idiot. Who cares if Radio Crap gets the phone first? Wait the 11 days and stop acting like a sissy. Geeze. I love the industry, but man...it's just a phone for God's sake!

Call me wrong badsky, but based off your first two posts it sounded like you had original intentions of instigating something. VZWman responded to your question, but not in the format you read w/ wynefox. You sounded quick to shun VZWman on your second post and manage to get everyone to hate him. VZWman is very educated in what he does, and he has posted a lot very accurate responses.

Besides the point, 11 days difference between phones being at radioshack and at an actually VZW store; i'm sorry, i don't see what the big deal is. If you felt so angry and dissapointed that you felt you had to post and reply all day long then you should just go to the radio shack store.

I'm sorry, but based on what I have read I am expecting a very nasty...

Well let's get into the wayback-machine for a little business history 101 (that's a beginner level course for you non-college graduates).

US Auto makers... very arrogant until the Japanese started to bring in cars to the US. In a very short time, the US auto industry was on the ropes.

Motorola Cell Phones... once the dominate manufacturer and made a high quality product! They too got big headed and their market share dropped liked a lead balloon.

AT&T (before divestiture) Hey we are Ma Bell, what are you going to do about it?

So boys & girls, there are lessons to be learned. If not learned now, you surely will re-learn them very soon.

Also remember that this society lives by the 10 second sound bite. In other words, short atte...

but hey, Verizon beats cingular in that it's figure head its highly skilled in annoying innocent people into submission and to fallow his will.

(will admit that blotch man is cooler then Testman)

BTW: if anyone plays City of Heros, I made Verizon TestMan on the infinity server that I sometimes play as for a joke. 😛 His battle cry is,"CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW???" that I made in the bigest text I can and I make sure I yell it before every battle. 😛

Hey, I hate Mc D's for the crappy food. In the town I lived in before I moved here Wally world was about the only place to go for a lot ofthings. I'm glad to not have them here in a way, but in my current financial situation I could REALLY use some of those "we undersell everyone" prices on my groceries.

heh, I know what you mean on that last part.

As for Mc D's yes, their "food" actualy makes me sick very easily, I can't eat it.

as for Wally World, they are dirty. My city has 4-5 of them and even the ones in the good parts of town with all the high class people are dirty. Like the people there just do whats minimum to clean. The ones in the bad part of down are even worse.

my ex works at a wal-mart and you're right, they really do only what's minimum to keep their jobs (which ain't much lemme tell ya). They spend more of their time there gossipin, and in her case settin up dates, than they do actually helpin people.

the prices are the only thing I miss.

Toyota, Datsun (now Nissan). Go back and read your history of automobiles. US quality sucked back then and US auto makers lost vast amount of market share. Enough of this, this is a cell phone board. Why am I arguing with a dumb kid anyway?
